Most prized Oilers possession?

What one item do you own (Oilers-related) that means the most to you?

I don't have a whole lot of things, but I collect(ed) hockey cards and I had a Ranford card signed personally at a dealership in Red Deer. My favorite Oiler since.

My Brother-In-Law on the other hand got a stick from Gretzky during the playoffs in Calgary one year. Apparently the last game he ever played in Calgary as an Oiler. He has the video of it from HNIC. Lucky bugger.

How about you guys? I don't mean monetary worth either, but personally. My Ranford card is probably worth less than the cardboard it is printed on (Pro Set) but I love it anyhow.

My most prized Oilers possessions are definitely the Wayne Gretzky rookie card my parents gave for my birthday and my Ryan Smyth Oilers sweater that I got him to sign at the autograph session 2 years ago.

Since he was traded just a few months later, my Doug Weight-signed Oiler jersey. There's other stuff, but he was my favorite Oiler at the time, so yeah.

My signed Lithographs

But I was a huge collecter of hockey cards as a kid and this is when they were only 25 cents a pack.

So I have yes, the Gretzky rookie card, the Messier rookie card, the Paul Coffey rookie card, the Ray Bourque (obviously not an Oiler collectable) rookie card and many, many others.

I collected them because I loved hockey not because I thought they would be worth money and at this point I have no interest in selling them at this time. I have great memories as a kid trying to check off the cards I didn't have and trying to get them.

I have an autographed picture of Billy Ranford that I cherish beyond belief. I used to love my autographed Jason Arnott rookie card but I'm "not really into it" of late..

most of my autographed Oiler gear has been bought from collectable shops, as I live a bazillion miles away from the Oilers.

BUT i do have something I love, it is a Polaroid taken with Bob Cole, Mike Krushelneski, and myself with an Oilers Championship Ring . They signed the polaroid 'Oilers Dynasty' and 'go Oilers' ... needless to say put a huge smile on my face

I don't have a much for Oiler memorabilia but a few items are;

- I have a sheet signed by all of the 83-84 oilers
- Signed Ryan Smyth picture (probably my favourite item from anything of this generation of Oilers)

BUT my most favourite (this is just plain funny), I have a signed Kevin Lowe - Boston Pizza poster from about 1982. He looks like a baby in the picture and the funniest part is the big 'ol grey Microns that he wore at the time. Gotta looove the Microns....

I have a poster of Kevin Lowe in my office, signed "to 'me', best of luck, Kevin Lowe 1983".

Hopefully soon, Kevin will have a contract signed by Nedved, 2004.

I also have a scrapbook of all the Journal's stories and pics from cups 1 through 5. My mom made me start it when I was 10 years old, and now I'm glad she did.

Plus a bunch of pictures of my girlfriend and little sister posing last year with BG, Staios, Torres and York, and BG's autograph on my jersey (so I hope he doesnt get traded).

I don't really have anything.

I used to have all sorts of hockey cards back when I was 9 or 10 with rookie cards of the usual suspects (Gretzky, Kurri, Coffey, Lowe, and a lot more etc.), but in the early 80's my dad in his infinite wisdom made me throw them in the garbage because he was tired of them 'cluttering up' the house.

It's been 20 years, and I still razz him mercilessly about that. I just tell him those cards could've paid for a higher quality nursing home. (joking, of course)

A framed, signed (by both heavyweights) 8 x 10 picture of Semenko and Hunter just about to drop 'em. Both have **** eatin' grins on their faces, while the ref is trying to seperate them. Best Christmas gift ever!

A signed Grant Fuhr goalie stick. He used to live next door to my best friend, and on occasion when we'd be playing road hockey he would join us. He was always so cool, and very enthusiastic about making our days. I believe he had a couple of daughters so he welcomed the opportunity to shoot around with us.

I have an oilers 3rd jersey with devo, smith, semenov, fergusson, staois, and izzy signed on it. I was kinda drunk and getting the sigs. I walk up and say " Mr Staois, you are just about my favourite Oiler, could you sign this?" He kinda frowns and says " I am Brad Issbister" oops. decent guy, he signed it anyways.
