3.5 seems about right for a short term deal, you think on a 5 year deal he would ask for slightly more but good contract for the leafs very reasonable.

How many UFA years does this contract buy?

Great signing though. I predicted 3.3 per for 5, still hoping its lower than 3.5, that would be insane.

Good deal for Schenn and the Leafs. The rumored 4.5 mil/year deal was too much.

Very strong contract. If he progresses past his current status of "top four defensive defenseman," it turns into a steal.

Good value for the Leafs IMO. Might be a real steal the last couple of those years.

And..trolling is NOT funny. Just makes you look stupid. Please stop and save what dignity you might still have.

I think the deal looks ok right now. I think by the end of the deal it will look like a bargain contract.

I was thinking 3.25 for 2-3 years and then locking him up with Komisarek's money but I am very happy with this number for 5 years. He will be just in his prime when his deal is up and if for whatever reason Dion leaves he is our next captain.

I doubtr very much Dion is going anywhere as long as Burke is the GM he and Schenn will Anchor our D for years to come

meh you don't know that for sure. if we don't make the playoffs within a few years or dion pulls a komisarek, dion won't be immune from getting traded

Except not, because a five-year contract buys one year of Schenn's UFA eligibility.

just saw on cap geek his cap hit for his entry level contract was 2,975,000/ year with bonuses, so another 5 years for only an extra 525,000/year is a great contract.

Solid deal. I was expecting 3.65 and anything up to 3.8. Leafs have been very efficient with their cap space as of late. Can't say the same for some teams out there. The good thing about this deal is that it burns a year of UFA status. Credit where it's due.
