Dave Lowry

A recent Calgary Sun article indicated that Dave Lowry hasn't set his sights on retirement quite yet, and is considering one more year playing.

Lowry would be a good veteran presence on a young team like the Oilers, something they haven't had since Kelly Buchberger left (notwithstanding the Adam Oates fiasco), and with a post-career ambition to coach, might be a natural to take over from Craig MacTavish one day.

Dave still has some hockey left in him. And with Edmonton just up the road, he wouldn't have to uproot his family too much.

At $250,00/season, the Oilers might be able to squeeze him into their budget.

I don't think it would work. He wouldn't be in the lineup, and might even have a hard time making the pressbox. I don't see a fit, personally.

Good veteran presence for the roadrunners, not the Oilers.

Lowry? He could be Hemsky's grandpa, he is that old. No need to get him, no room for him.

Simple really when you think about it.

We don't need Lowry on this team. He is not even capable of making the Roster.

Lowry would be a good pickup IMO. I don't mean anywhere near the big club though, just as a veteran presence on the 3rd line or something on the RoadRunners. Not sure if he'd be willing to sign a contract like that, but there is definetly zero use for him on the big club, even if the injuries piled up.

if he wants to play for the roadrunners, sure why not. 250 K 2-way contract, I don't see it as a problem. he'll be a good presence for the young guys, but a 3rd liner on the RR's. i don't know if he'd agree to something like that though.

Lowry can't have enough impact on our young team to make a difference that is worth spending money for.

Dave Lowry? Why would we need another locker room attendant. I think Joey Moss does a great job.

Only a Calgary fan would suggest Dave Lowry is the answer to the Oilers' woes.
