Huberdeau is playing his way onto the opening roster right now. He deserves at least a 9 game tryout after his performance tonight. He flashed some nice chemistry with Santorelli.

Markstrom isn't going to be brought in as a backup. He needs to play the bulk of games. Like J17 said he isn't going to make the team unless he shows in preseason that he's ready to come in and be a #1 goalie right away. Very doubtful that happens.

Huberdeau won't make the team unless he gains 10 pounds in a month. Tallon already said so. He said no matter how good he looks in camp, he has to be at a certain size to play in this league. Boy needs to hit the gym.

Either 0 or around 20 points IMO (if he sees some 2nd unit PP time on occasion).
0 if he looks bad and gets sent to juniors.

Yo, just a question if you please: I assume Garrison and Weaver will continue to get shut-down minutes?

^^^^ I would assume so, but none of us really know what the defensemen pairings will be.

If the preseason is any indication, the answer is no.

Garrison's been playing with Campbell. Weaver's been paired with Kulikov. Jovo-Gudbranson/Ellerby the 3rd D pair.

Santorelli has a shoulder injury, he could be out until end of October, but will probably be back before then. This opens up a spot for the time being. I think Huberdeau is definitely getting the 9 game tryout now, if it wasn't already going to happen.

Flash - Weiss - Versteeg
Huber - Goc - Kopecky
Booth - Matthias - Skille/Dadonov
Berg/Bradley - Kennedy/Carter - Upshall

Due to injury to Santo, is this likely what we're looking at for opening night?

It's kind of weird how Santorelli is out until potentially end of Oct because the 29th would be the 10th game. Obviously it depends entirely on Huberdeau's play, but you would have to think when Santo returns, Huberdeau goes back down.

Booth - Weiss - Versteeg
Huberdeau - Flash - Upshall
Kopecky - Goc - Dadonov
Bergenheim - Matthias - Skille

- until Santo is back. Carter/Bradley in the press-box.

Campbell - Kulikov
Gudbranson/Ellerby - Jovo
Weaver - Garrison

- I hope that Ellerby is not sitting in the press-box, rather play him in the AHL. Yonkman could rather be stand-in or someone else.

Theodore
Plate (until Clemmer is back, letting Markström get minutes in the A to develop even more).

I'm interested to see how they handle the 7th defenceman. Sure, you can sit Ellerby and Guds a few games here and there, but you can't do that for a full season for guys still developing.

Love those lines. There is scoring on each line, as well as some toughness. Id like to see Hubs get 2nd line minutes with some talent, rather than stashing him on the 4th line. Let him develop, and play two, sit one, etc. till Santorelli gets back, and go from there.

Ellerby would have to clear waivers to be sent down.

You as everyone else, I think that's how we should handle it in the beginning. C'mon, their partner would be Jovo. Even if he doesn't suffer any major injuries, he'll need some days off, providing the two of them extra minutes.

I think most everyone agrees that he'll get 9 games. After that I don't think many people have made up their mind. I'd guess most people are more in the wait and see boat during the 9.

Capitals fans really hated Flash when he was forced into the center role, for what it's worth.

i think huber should play at least 3rd line and get his opportunities via power play. he's just not big enough to handle playing top minutes against "men" but he has the skill to compete given space. let him slowly build himself throughout the season and gain his confidence through picking teams apart on the PP

according to fialkov , hubby is going back to juniors regardless of his performance. Because the panthers are intent on not rushing their prospects anymore. Also markstrom wants the #1 role , hes going to fight hard for it

I think Hubby deserves to make the roster. I think what management said is that they won't rush players, but if they do well and earn a spot then they will give them a shot. What's the point really of Hubby going to training camp and pre season if management had no real intention of letting him try to make the big club? I think he'll get his 9 games with the Panthers and then well see what happens.

I would love to see Markstrom steal that #1 spot, and the way Plante and Theo have been playing, he's got a good chance. I know Clemmer comes back in maybe a month, but if Markstrom does the Job better than anyone, then why mess with what works?

How has Jovo been so far. I imagine his name will be brought up often by coaches for his outstanding leadership and hard play. And 80% of the fans will point out every mistake he makes, and complain about his contract. At least that's what happened during his time with the Coyotes.
