If Huberdeau doesn't make the team for the sole reason that the Panthers want their rookies to start at ages 26 or 27, that is an extremely close-minded attitude to have.

i don't think that's the case. i'd assume what was implied was more along the lines of "regardless of the number goals he scores in the pre-season, we still feel he's not physically ready for the grind of an NHL regular season".

I think he will likely get the nine games.

The forward lines at today's practice.

Flash-Weiss-Versteeg
Booth-Kopecky-Upshall
Bergy-Goc-Skille
Matthias-Carter-Bradley

Looks like Dadonov will be the odd man out.

Soupy - Garrison
Kulikov - Weaver
Jovo - Gudbranson
Ellerby

Those are the defensive pairings so far. Would rather see Kulikov and Gudbranson together, seeing how their skill/size could be beneficial to each other. Besides, having Jovo and Guds on the same pairing kinda puts all of our toughness together.

It has to do with who they'll be going up against too. Kulikov and Weaver are going to get matched up against better forwards than Jovo and Guds.

Would rather see Garrison/Weaver Soup/Guds Kulikov/Jovo dunno just me. Here is something to think about does Dadonov get cut when Santorelli comes back from injury?

I'm just surprised that Carter stayed up.

Don't want to see Guds with Soup. Soup takes alot of risks and is an offensive defenseman. He needs someone like Weaver or Garrison to cover him when he is taking risks Guds being a rookie I don't want him responsible for that.

This group of 5 on the ice at the same time brings some serious grit. They should lay some big hits on people. Probably won't score many goals but they should punish some people.

Matthias-Carter-Bradley
Guds - Jovo

Agreed, Garrison will provide stability with Soup and the same with Weaver if Kuli is going offense. Jovo and Guds are the perfect 3rd D pairing the student with the teacher, and giving a physical 1-2 punch. I'm loving that 4th line too.

Not sure how big of a fan of that line I am. I was really wanting Dadonov in the line up.

soupy garrison could be a lethal combo for odd man rushes. soupy can obviously get the puck up ice well and garrison is great imo in getting up in to the rush. im excited to see them play together.

im okay with these combinations, but i just dont know how i feel about having two guys who dont really pass well in upshall and booth on the same line and then having our 3 best playmakers on another

Think Weiss and Booth get on the same line early just to help the chemistry issue? I apologize to my last post I didn't mean Kulikov on the 3rd D I just put the three pairings together without preference of order.

Looks like Skille and Dads are fighting for that 3rd line spot. Skille will start game 1, but I have no problem if competition drives these guys to play better. It could be a game to game decision for that spot.

Bradley-Matthias-Carter is a pretty solid and tough 4th line.

I see most lines have Versteeg on the top line... what are the realistic point expectations for Steeger this season?
