Does anyone else find it odd that Richardson is moved up to the line with Richards/Brown seeing how DL has been telling us that Parse has more top end skill for the last year

Pure speculation on my part: The 3RW is Parse's to lose. TM wants to see the Cliffy-Stoll-Parse line together to see if they have chemistry. Richy is simply a fill in for 1 game tonight

I like the D pairings for both games. The vets are paired with other vets (except for the Mitchell-Cmapbell pairing). Basically, the four main guys fighting it out for a chance at the roster (Hickey-Muzzin-Voynov-Drewiske) are all playing together and aren't being shelted by a veteran.

As for Parse, yeah, skill or not, he's not going to be in the top 6 this year, at least not to start the season, so let's see how he looks on a line he'll likely be on. Good placement by Murray/DL.

This just in from LAKings.com:

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have announced the following player transactions.

Released from Professional Tryout Agreement:

J.D. Watt - RW
Ray Macias - D
C.J. Stretch - C

Re-assigned to Junior Team:

Michael Schumacher - LW
Jordan Weal - C
Christopher Gibson - G
Pierre Durepos - D
Michael Morrison - G
Taylor Carnevale - C
Michael Kantor – RW

Released from Camp:

Teigan Zahn - D

The Kings have 54 players remaining on their 2011 Training Camp roster.

So, were all the guys who were "re-assigned" signed to an ELC or something?

Figured Weal would have got a longer look but no real surprises there.

And there's been no announcement on contracts for those players that I remember. Does anyone know how many contracts the Kings currently have?

How did Roach look so far in camp btw?

I guess the Kings like what they've seen from Roach and Cajkovsky.

The Kings have switched things up a bit with their practice groups, going with an NHL feel this morning, with 23 skaters and two goalies. No real surprises, other than the notable pairing of Willie Mitchell and Slava Voynov (in Drew Doughty’s regular spot). Here’s how they’re lined up…

Penner-Kopitar-Williams
Gagne-Richards-Brown
Clifford-Stoll-Parse
Richardson-Lewis-Westgarth
Moreau-Loktionov-Hunter

Mitchell-Voynov
Scuderi-Johnson
Martinez-Greene
Drewiske-Hickey

Exit Parse for Hunter?
Exit Richardson for The Island of Doctor Moreau?

I like it but it won't happen.

Exit Parse for Kozun to start the season? That would be fun.

To me, Parse is really going to have to kick tail seriously to prove that he belongs in that spot. I hope he does, the guy has serious skills but when do we get to see it and for how long if we do? I would rather put another hard edged nails kind of player in his spot like Kozun or Hunter and make that line a bear to play against.

Fourth line with Lewis centering Richie and Moreau? Well lets see I guess.

If Parse is moved to a new team and scores 30 goals, will everyone remember that nobody wanted him on the Kings?

if he ever scores 30 goals in this league i'll change my username to anything you pick for 6 months

i don't hate him or anything, but i don't see him ever scoring that much and i'd much rather see kozun get time in an offensive role.

If he does it on the Islanders and they still suck, it doesn't count.

I would... But I've probably been his most vocal supporter on these boards since I first saw him play. Problem with him has always been consistency and if given time and if he can stay healthy I see no reason why he couldn't score 30 goals in the NHL. He is pretty much Moulson 2.0 at this point though...

People already throwing Parse under the bus after one preseason game, after missing almost a whole season? LOL

ive never been a Parse fan, his goal against Calgary is the only thing he has done.

Plus the last time we saw him do anything, he was the defensive lapse that led to an overtime winner for San Jose, and now he looks completely disinterested in the preseason when he isnt a lock to make the team

What's to laugh about? This is professional hockey and he's 27 years old. Guy isn't a kid just out of the minors. He's still sitting on the 3rd line in training camp but his problem is simply that we've got actual depth. Getting a shot in the NHL isn't something to take for granted and the list is long of guys who had a shot and lost it because of things they couldn't control (injury, et al). This is his last shot and year with the Kings.

Ridiculous! The guy plays his first game in a full year and too many people are throwing him under the bus as the new whipping boy!

The guy has good offensive skills on a team that was offensively challenged last year. If anything, we need him for depth as the injuries take their toll.

2010-2011 4 points in 5 games, a +5 rating, and a 16% shooting percentage. He gets hurt. He must suck.

2009-2010 He is tied for the second most effective player on offense on the team at even strength (player on the ice when the Kings scored at even strength/minutes played).

Simmonds .051
Kopitar .047
Parse .047
Stoll .045
Handzus .045
Smyth .044
Frolov .044
Richardson .042
Williams .041
Brown .037

Parse needs to play LW to be the most effective. Yes, he does need to prove he can play consistently, especially on the D side, but dammit, we have seen this before, throwing away a talented player to watch him have tremendous success elsewhere.

Parse's skill doesn't mean squat if he doesn't try. I will say he looked a bit better today, but he's still way behind others. This is the worst camp I've seen him have to date, and it's a bad time for him to do that.

I will, but only because I've been arguing that he needs to get his shot and that he'll produce once he gets it. Unfortunately, his real shot was last year and he got injured. Now that the Kings have more scoring depth, it will take an injury to Penner/Gagne that I don't want to see happen for him to get the legitimate chance that he needs to succeed in LA.

Of course he apparently looked slow the other night, so now just about everybody has written him off.

EDIT: Or basically what tigermask48 said

It's nice to finally have a little stability upfront, or so it appears. Barring injury, Penner-Kopi-Williams and Gagne-Richards-Brown will make up the top 6(at least to start). Plus, Cliffy-Stoll will make up 2/3 of the 3rd line.

Parse is the new Purcell, is the new Moulson, is the new Boyle, etc.

I'm really pulling for Parse because he hasn't had a legitimate 82 game fair chance on this team. If he finds his game elsewhere I will definitely be sad, just like losing Purcell and Moulson. But if losing him makes the Kings a better team in the long run and they eventually win the cup I won't give a damn. You're only strong as your weakest link and in the one game played this pre-season Parse didn't appear to be anything but that.

I will wait until the regular season to judge him though. Rookies will tend to shine in pre-season split squad games. Whole different beast in the regular season.

Since the Ducks have given up about a thousand goals already, I predict the Kings will be shutout on Sunday.
