THall isn't going anywhere.
Doughty is a great young dman, but Hall is a franchise player. Anyone who questions this fact - maybe stay up and watch a couple Oilers games this year.
Some people think the Oil would have to add??!! This kid is as legit as they come.
I do not see the Oilers moving Hall under any circumstances.

I think Doughty is and will be a better player, but I just can't trade away Taylor Hall. Just can't do it.

I can trade anyone else, except him.

haha nice try. No way do the Oilers trade their future for Doughty and his attitude. Hall will be the better player, book it.

I like how Hall is considered a "franchise player", and Doughty isn't even considering Hall has done less than Doughty...

The team for which it really makes sense to offer sheet Doughty is Detroit. The cap space would obviously be an issue, but having Doughty come play with Lidstrom for a year and then take over as Detroit's no.1 defenseman once Lidstrom retires. Giving up 4 1st rd picks for Detroit isn't a huge concern as they will range from 24 to 30th. I don't think Detroit would do it, but there really isn't a better defenseman to replace Lidstrom.

You'd turn down a top 3 player in the league? Hall will be great, I don't think we can assume he'll be Conn Smythe, Malkin Great.

I can see turning down Malkin for Hall only because Edm is in a position were we cannot buy a team at all - one of the best strengths the team has right now is that the players are growing together. Malkin would be wonderful to have of course but this is not a value decision. We won't know what we have for about three years but the only chance we have is to grow these guys together and then diagnose the right trades at that point. Getting Malkin now would be like flailing around in the dark - chemistry is what we need.

Hall seems to be on pace to be amongst NHL elite. See below an interesting article from 2010 before his first season. Even with the missed games he was easily on pace to surpass expectations.

Hall is the only player to ever be named Memorial Cup MVP. If the Oilers are ever going to win a cup, Hall will likely be the guy winning the Conn Smythe.

With that said, I don't think Hall will ever be "Art Ross, Malkin Great".

If the Oilers really wanted Doughty that badly, I'd just offer sheet him and give up the four picks rather than Hall.

The 2012 pick probably would be high (in the 4-10 range I would think, though having Doughty likely improves the Oilers a fair bit), but after that, you're probably looking at sending LA three picks in the 14-25 range.

Hall/RNH/Doughty/Eberle/MPS is a stacked core and the Oilers have a lot of other 1st/2nd round d-men picks coming on up to surround Doughty with (Klefbom, Marincin, Petry, Teubert, Musil, etc.).

There's no point in having Doughty but then taking a massive step backwards on your offense by losing Hall, you'd have to rebuild for a few more years, and Doughty probably would become unhappy in that time.

Hall Gagner Eberle
Smyth Horcoff Hemsky
MPS Belanger Omark
Eager Brule Jones

Doughty Smid
Whitney Gilbert
Barker Peckham

I don't think would be the worst team in the league, then add in RNH the following year.

No way oil make this deal, teams don't trade superstars just like that, just because la has a problem getting doughty to sign a contract doesn't mean edmonton would consider screwing up their chemistry to help them out. In my personal bias oiler fan opinion hall will be a 40+ goal scorer for years to come and his hatred for losing is gonna be what drags edmonton out of the basement, and whether doughty is worth it or not i would rather stick with hall. I would consider an eberle + deal but if oil really wanted doughty they should just offer sheet him. They have lots of young promising prospects and adding doughty without subtraction would probably be enough to get them into the playoffs this year.

Yep, Tambo would turn down both deals. I don't think you realize how important Hall is to the city of Edmonton nevermind the fact that he has elite potential as well. He's going nowhere unless we get a generation type of talent back, that's how much he is valued in Edmonton.

The whole draw of a hockey game is not knowing who is going to win or lose. No thanks.

Did you predict who would win back in December when the Oilers walked into the ACC and kicked the Leafs ass 5-0? I seem to recall Hall having two goals in that game as well

As for the trade proposal, I wouldn't even consider trading Hall for Doughty.

Blowing his success out of proportion and speaking on behalf of an entire city and organization is in some way useful?

Hall is the face of the Oilers and is their franchise player, what am i blowing out of proportion?

Would you trade Pietrangelo for anything short of a franchise player?
