A 3-1 loss to Tappara.

The total lack of effort against teams well below us in the standings is really pissing me off even though Ässät is 2nd in the league.

Does anybody know what the rosters were for the Ilves-HIFK old timers match?

I was at Karpat-KalPa tonight, really good game - probably the best of about 10 games i have seen in the last 5 years in SM-Liiga.

Was disappointed to see Koskinen pulled so early, thought he would have stayed longer, but it was a dream start for Karpat.

KalPa looked the best team in first period - very fast smooth skating and passing, but we not so good in the 2nd and 3rd periods.

Well deserved win for Karpat, but seriously their Powerplay is the worst I have ever seen in 10 years of watching probably 120 games of SM-Liiga.

Tonight after playing TPS the last time in the regular season, HIFK will still play five times against JYP in the last 23 games.

The reporters of iltalehti have to be drunk all the time, they try to blackmail Jarkko Ruutu in every news they report. At the same time thou Jarkko doesnt care about that and keeps being the thoughest finnish SOB ever.

I'm pretty sure you're interpreting that word wrong.

Yes everyone knows Ruutu is a agitator and in NHL it was shown in the right way in the news, but now in Finland the so called "media" has really taken him under their watch. Example if he takes a penalty and the other team scores and wins, the headlines would be; Jokerit lost> the reason: Ruutu being a dirty pig (or something like that).

Either you didn't quite understand me, or I'm not exactly following you.
Blackmail:
(transitive) To extort money from by exciting fears of injury other than bodily harm, such as injury to reputation, distress of mind, false accusation, etc.; as, to blackmail a merchant by threatening to expose an alleged fraud.
Not trying to be nitpicky or anything.

One of the worst penalty calls ever from Friday's game between HPK and SaiPa. Five minutes and game misconduct for this!

Ekbom and Bäckström; stay at home d-men, nothing special, get the job done. From what I've seen though, neither has the ability to become a top notch defenseman even for the euro league level. Career 5-6th d-men.

Porseland had a slow start, a very disappointing start to the season (as had his team, HPK). Been picking it up lately. He's very good with the puck and moves well for a player his size. Doesn't take full benefit from his size in the own zone as he is pretty soft in the corners and in front of the goal. Upside: high level euro league d-man and EHT.

Eklund's had a very solid season so far. Was Kärpät's best d-man before the injury and has been the best since he came back. Just solid all around. Also made his EHT debut. Upside: NHL.

Jan Latvala (Pelicans) plays his 1000th SM-liiga game today. He is only second one to achieve this milestone, Erik Hämäläinen did it in 2008.

Hämäläinen played 1001 games in total, so Latvala is going to break the record later this season.

Damn I'm worried about this team atm... looks like total crap and only a few guys seem to give a ****.

So sick of the coach giving Honkanen icetime from game to game. Somehow doesn't see how crap he has been the entire season. Knowing he will likely play here next season makes me cry inside.

What do you think about JYP? Best team in the 2nd part of the league?? Cup contender?

The team looks solid. I can see them winning the cup this year

good to see the table so tight, any one of 5 teams could still win the league with 7 games to go.

Well done Latvala.

With Vatanen, Helenius and their top line they're certainly one of the top teams in the league. I would guess Ässät, JYP and HIFK will get the medals if they don't face each other before the semis.

Everyone out of the top 7 teams have chance to win the championship this year, although I see HIFK, Jokerit and maybe Pelicans as favorites. Experienced coaches and especially elite goalies are really difference makers in the playoff, so that's why I see those teams as the front runners.

Jokerit's last 2 games have proven why they won't win the play-offs this year - shipping 8 goals at Pelicans and then letting a 3-0 1st period lead slip at home to SaiPa. They just ain't good enough.
