Playoffs are different thing but they have to improve a lot especially Kilpi. I hope they find their "6th gear" then.

I haven't seen many games this season cause S/M-Liiga interests me less and less...I saw Pelicans - Jokerit game and the reffing was absolutely horrible...linesmen should be linesmen and not get into the game pretending they are the main refs

Croatian prospect Borna Rendulic, who played 3 games with men's assat team is currently having great Nuorten SM.liga playoffs. He has 12 (4+8) points in 3 games.

Haha yeah he got 7 of those points in a single game, quite amazing. Too bad his team didn't make it to the next round. It's gonna be interesting to see how he does next year as he'll most likely get a proper chance to play with the men.

With Croatia not being member of EU until July 2013 (at least planned like that now) Ässät may not want to use a foreign spot for him. Therefore it might be more likely that he will be loaned to Mestis (2nd tier) team for next season.

He got to play two or three games this year when Canadian defenseman Ryan Caldwell was injured.

What do you think which team he will be loaned at ? To SaPko like in middle of this season , or some other ? Is there some affiliate of Assat in Mestis or clubs loans players where they will have most ice time ?

AFAIK Ässät doesn't have any specific affiliate in Mestis so I guess they handle every loan individually.

Yeah and KooKoo and Jukurit, Hokki too IIRC etc. So no way to know where they loan a player until it happens.

Söderholm broke SM-liiga's all time D-man assist record today.

Why did Jokerit wear their White jerseys in their home match against JYP?

I believe Kekäläinen had said that Jokerit would play one home game in their road jerseys, so the home crowd gets to see them. Or something like that.

I was browsing through the stat page on SM-Liiga website and I was wondering what VM VP and AM stood for?

http://www.sm-liiga.fi/tilastot/koko...i&b=rs&s=11-12

the google translator isn't working well for those stats

I'm guessing it has to do with shootouts but anyways

VM --> Started on the bench, was changed in during the game (goalie)

VP --> Started the game, was changed out during the game (goalie)

AM --> Started the game (goalie) (I assume it means that he played the whole game then)

could you people comment on Antti Raanta, goalie for Ässät and Juha Metsola, goalie for Tappara and if you think they have NHL potentiall; especially Raanta.

Hardt

Can someone comment on Nicklas Hardt's play recently? It seems like he found the form in time for PO?

Those are counted stupidly, because they count the times goalie is pulled for an extra attacker late in the game. Therefore the numbers are quite high.

Delayed penalties aren't counted though.

Raanta is a good one, but nowadays a clear majority of the new NHL goalies are taller than him. KHL might be a more likely destination for him at some point if he keeps this up. BTW, those stats probably aren't the most accurate, for example Vesa Toskala has played in 22 games but according to the AM stat he has started in 23 games. Also, the VP stat seems to count in the times the goalie was pulled late in the 3rd. VM stats probably also includes the times that the goalie re-entered the game after being pulled.

Regular season over, playoffs start on Saturday

Wild card round (best of 3)
Kärpät-TPS
Blues-Lukko

Quarterfinals (best of 7, start on next Thursday)
KalPa-Blues/Lukko/TPS
Pelicans-Kärpät/Blues/Lukko
HIFK-Jokerit
JYP-Ässät

Ryan Lasch (Pelicans) won scoring title after having three points in final game. Tomas Zaborsky (Ässät) led most of the season but his season ended in late February.

What? This guy had 30 points in Södertälje, 62(!) points in SM-Liiga.

He's really been getting better and better throughout the year. He's not the first guy to really break out in Pelicans system, young players seem to develop pretty well there.

Also can be noted that Södertälje was one of the worst teams last year right? Pelicans finished second after the regular season. Their team is in very good shape, built well, coached well and have a good system.

Thats correct, he would put up more points on a better team ofc.

Whats the word on Mathias Porseland? (rumored to sign with Frölunda) Was a ok dman in Allsvenskan when he left for Finland, 10+19 for HPK this season.

According to eliteprospects Porseland played for Rögle in Elitserien (didn't know they played there) before leaving for finland. He's been one of the few bright spots on a weak HPK team. Probably their best Dman this year.
