Campbell and Oleksiak returned to their OHL teams.

You know, one of the added benefits to Oleksiak choosing Canadian juniors was that he got to participate in camp and play in a preseason game. Don't think we really mentioned that much at the time of his decision.

I am guessing that Management does not think too much of Campbell sending him to OHL instead of the AHL which they are allowed because he was not drafted out of the OHL. After seeing him play last year i would of done the same he needs a lot of work against better players.

No room for Campbell in the AHL anyways. And ya he didn't show he was ready.

Campbell isn't in his OA year. He's only 19 (turning 20 next spring).

Yes but if Dallas want him to play in the AHL he could because he was not drafted when he was in the OHL he was drafted before.

I didn't dispute that. The same goes for Oleksiak.

He'd be lucky to get 10 games. Would you rather have him play 10 games in the AHL or 55+ in the OHL?

I'm not all that familiar with the hockey waiver process. I assume Morin, Lukowich, and at least Sawada will return to Austin? Does this just clear them off the NHL roster but still honors their AHL contracts?

They will all go to Austin. They all have 2-way deals. Highly unlikely anyone gets claimed.

Everyone seems to think Godard will.

All players at NHL training camp are technically on the NHL roster for however long they remain there. For players who meet certain criteria, to be assigned from an NHL roster to an AHL roster, they have to pass through waivers. Once a player clears, I believe a team has 30 days to send them to the AHL or else they have to go through waivers again to be send down.

So this is just a necessary part in the process of sending guys who meet those criteria down to Austin. With Godard, it may also be an attempt to put him through at a time when he's less likely to be claimed (because rosters are still crowded with young kids making a push and there are lots of other names on the waiver wire) and give a chance for someone else like Vincour to beat him out. But it also doesn't mean he'll necessarily be sent down - just that, should he clear, he can be sent down without risking losing him to waivers within the next 30 days.

Godard won't have to pass through waivers on the way back up then, right?

I believe that's right. From what I can tell he's re-entry exempt, though I can't be sure of exactly how many games he's spent on an NHL roster the past 2 seasons due to how often he's scratched and/or injured.

Actually now that I think about it, if you assume a reasonable amount of scratches that would push him over the limit. So no, probably not exempt.

He's looked OK, nothing amazing but nothing horrible. Probably a mid season call up if anything, we just don't have the room on D and he could use another year in the AHL.

I haven't seen him personally, but it sounds like he's going to be a key player for the Texas Stars to begin the season.

Have Dillon and Larsen been paired at all during the preseason? The sooner we can get them used to playing with one another the better as their styles of play would seem to mesh pretty well.

Looks like the Stars won't be back in PEI next year.

PEI Mayor Clifford Lee:

It sounds like he expects a revolving door of NHL teams to be jumping at the bit to hold their training camp there. I doubt that's the case. And if you publicly denounce the one NHL franchise that has come to your island, it seems like others would take note of that and not go there. Interesting. Time to find a new secluded city for next year, I guess.

Wow. What an ungrateful ****ing son of a *****. You live in a ****ing town of 30,000 people, an NHL team makes you their training camp destination for 2 years, and now all of a sudden you think you're in a position to start dictating which clubs you deign to allow your glorious facilities?

I had the same thought and am too hung over to make it cleverer and personalized, but this comment made me lol.

"What is it with Cliff Lee's and dismissing Dallas?"

Wow. What an insult.

If you don't want us up there, fine. But don't go out there and speak publicly about it. Our franchise has done nothing but give rave reviews about your city and your arena then you go and say we're not good enough for you...sounds like an Avery type comment honestly.
