Round 4 | Quarter-Finals | (F1) Arturs Irbe vs (L2) Evgeni Nabokov

Apologies again for the delays, but we're finally kicking off the quarterfinals with an intriguing matchup that pits the Sharks' two iconic goaltenders against one another. So who is your favorite? The original superstar netminder? Or the holder of most, if not all, of San Jose's significant goaltending records.

One goalie with 55 career wins as a Shark. One with 46 in one season and 3 40+ win seasons in a row. Not that close.

Good matchup, the two best goalies in our history. Love Nabby, but it's hard to go against Irbe.

Irbe was my first favorite player. I watched Nabby a lot for pointers as a goaltender, but Irbe was the reason I became obsessed with the position. Both had a lot of character and style. Irbe was just a little more likable.

Definitely Nabby, but I can understand why others would vote Irbe.

Irbe. The goalie who over-achieved for the Sharks. I have the limited edition lithograph with him, printed for the suite holders the inagural year in the Tank. It hangs behind my desk.

Nabby played for much better Sharks teams than Irbe ever did. With Irbe in net the Sharks went from over 70 losses in a season to within a crossbar of the WCF.

If you consider the number of times each goalie carried the team vs the number of times each goalie let his team down its Irbe and its not even close.

Ir-be, Irrrr-beee!

I would have picked Nabby a few years ago, but i'm forever going to associate him with playoff underperformance.
