Going into the draft my agent had anticipated me going in the late first round/early second. I hoped to be a first rounder of course, and hopefully going late so I didn't have to play for a worthless franchise my first years. I saw name after name go by, and Chicago had the last pick. I expected them to pick me, but no, of course not. Instead i'm going as the first pick in the 2nd round, to Coyotes, weho
Hoping I can make it in my first year, although i wouldn't be surprised if i'm going back to AHL/WHL next season.
You know you can sometimes fudge the draft? If you just reload it a few times before going to the draft the teams will - as in real life - often trade draft slots. Your positon in the draft never changes, but the teams themselves do. However, it's more likely to happen in the top picks and rounds; the top 6 in particular seem to shuffle around a lot - due to the lottery I suspect. I said I wouldn't play for Phoenix or Florida - the former beceause they're probably going to wind up, the latter because their mini jersey numbers annoy me - but thankfully didn't need to reload. I did play around to see how it worked, though.
your displayed stats only account for what you do yourself. games/periods you sim don't count towards your bap stats.
If this was for me
I always jump in the game at the end because it's an awful experience playing a full BAP G game. Sometimes I am credited with the W/SO and other times I won't get either even though i actually jumped in the game and played. I don't get credit for GAA or SV% from the simulated portions but I do get them for the portions I play. So if the first two periods were simmed and I made 25 saves I won't get credit for those but if I make 4 saves in the 3rd I get credited with those. For whatever reason W and SO oftentimes aren't credited for some unknown reason even when I play and get credit for 4 saves.
Side note I discovered that even though the W and SO weren't being listed under mys eason stats they were being added to my hockey shop total. So on the season when I hit 10 SO it said I was still at 6 SO in the actual BAP mode but the most important thing is I got my damn gear at least.
Also really cant stress this enough. You HAVE to put yourself on an upper echelon team like Pitt or else you will loathe BAP G mode and be unable to play it. Let's say you lose 2-1 but only had about 12 shots against you...your exp will be around 8, 12, 4 and you will NEVER be able to build your guy up. You have to be able tot rick the game into giving you exp at the end of a game or you will never be good enough to have a chance.
You HAVE to A) Win the game...B) Have a high save percentage which means basically you HAVE to pitch a complete shutout if you play all 3 periods. If you play for a bad team they will NOT score I played games where I lost 1-0 multiple times because my bad team (the Devs) just never freakin scored. You will lose games in OT or shootout and despite 1GAA you'll get nearly nothing in exp points because you lost and had a low Sv %. Also having a bad team will kill your ability to trick the game into giving you exp points I'll explain.
So Sv% plays a huge role in getting exp but short of pitching a SO and having your useless team score at least once you won't have a good Sv% even if your GAA is 1 or 2. If you sim the first 2 periods and let your goalie accumulate saves and then win the game with a 0, 1 or 2 GAA you will get 20-70 exp points for each category. You need the exp points because the AI no matter how inaccurate you put the sliders will ALWAYS snipe you with low stats even if you are in perfect position. You will feel completely helpless and screwed. Once you build your G up (takes at least 2 seasons) then you will feel as if you have a chance and you may even enjoy BAP G mode. Plus you will get your hockey shop gear so you can improve online. You could even sim down until there are 5 minutes left but I like to go 10 or so at the very least and try for the SO....but of course occassionally you play the last 10 mins and manage to make 3-6 saves to preserve the SO and then you don't get credit for some arbitrary reason. So there's my tips on BAP G

Wow... my natural position is a Center, and im playing as a D man right now even though my line is out. The #2C is playing in my position....... wtf?!?
Playing a RW TWF for Halifax in the Q. I hate when you sim to your next shift and the other player doesn't come off the ice. It really grinds my gears and it's usually FRK taking another shift from me. Man I can't wait to get on the first line with MacKinnon and Ryan.
Is there a way to get drafted but play in the AHL for a year before being actually called up to the NHL? My BAP agent tells me I'm going to go in the first round, but I started at age 17, C-PLY, but I don't think that I'm ready for the NHL yet. I don't want to sim through games and I've only done 30 games so far with The Owen Sound Attack. So far I've got 53 goals and 40ish Assists but need to get that up to 64 for my expectations.
tl;dr - I don't think my OVR is high enough yet for the NHL and I want to spend a year in the AHL without missing out on getting the first game, first shift, first goal achievement.

How old is your player? If he is under 20 he will be sent back to his CHL team.

my player was 17 still, but I decided to just make a new BAP that was 16. I wasn't thrilled being a playmaker, because where I CAN pass, I'd rather shoot and hit people. Made a new guy as a PWF Center and I'm loving it. Only complaint I have is that I get called for boarding and hits from behind that are due to the computer deciding the second before I hit them that they are going to turn their backs to me. One game I got thrown out because of my first hit on my first shift. It was really annoying because I was on the ice for less than a minute and it ruined my point streak.
In other news, I see a lot of people asking about why they won't move up lines or don't get to be on the PP or PPK, but I started on both the PP and PPK second line and moved up from the 3rd line to the 2nd line in normal play in about 10 games. Does it matter what the OVR is for the person above you in the chain of lines? If so, I should probably take the 1st line position soon because I'm out scoring and have an OVR higher than the 1st line center.

well, it took 23 games but my BAP finally made it from the 3rd line to the 1st line of his QJMHL team. I did notice that, where he used to be on the PK, he is not anymore. Probably due to getting a lot of penalties from clean checks that the game decides is boarding/hitting from behind. Still, pretty happy about how long it took
Anyone else having the problem with computer teammate passes being horribly slow when you call for them? Any way to call for a hard pass if say your cutting backdoor?

There is a slider in the passing settings that adjusts the speed. Just up that and your problem should go away
Also, am i the only who isn't mad after being drafted by the Coyotes?
Yep, you're the only one i believe... Stuck on the 3rd line with some random AHL dudes, got 12pts in 18 games. I believe Hanzal got 0 points still, Turris 5pts and it just goes on and on. We really suck. 5-10-3 iirc, begging to get traded.
