brooks laich not at center already. i dont read much into pre season lineups, but if using laich as a center was a priority for the early part of the season, i'd think they would line him up there for a meaningless preseason opener.

I was sort of hoping to get a look at at least one of Brouwer, Ward, Halpern, Hamrlik, or Vokoun. Ah well. Let's see the rookies!

VogsCaps | I have answered this countless times in last few weeks. But here it is again. No TV during preseason.

When the Caps are on the road, it then becomes a question of whether the home team is electing to televise/stream the game for fans. This game in Baltimore counts as one of the Caps' home games.

Whether there is room for a streaming online feed from the jumbotron for some home games is an open question. I would say no for Baltimore, but quite possible for the Verizon Center games. Check in on game day.

Sweet. With Sloan on the ice, it's an automatic win (for the Caps)! Wonder if King and Stortini will go.

Updated the first post with the lineups. Thanks to those posting the lineups.

Looking forward to hear Walton's dulcet tones when describing the sheer olympic elegance that is the skating of Tyler F'ing Sloan.

Looking forward to hearing about the Galiev-Eakin-Bourque line. Should be good. Part of me is still rooting for Bourque to crack the NHL, even if it seems unlikely at this point. The Alzner-Green pairing is something I've also wanted for a while, though much less now that we've signed Hamrlik.

Eakin will be cleaning up after Galiev the entire game because Galiev will run out of gas by the middle of the 1st. Bourque's gonna be running around like crazy as he always has in the past without creating much.

Galiev certainly didn't run out of gas in the rookie game. Kid's a gamer.

Lots of cracks in the ice. There is a concern with player safety.

k8ie has made mention that there's concerns about the ice conditions and it was notably warm during the morning skate.

If the ice is exceedingly bad, would Leonsis and company deign to cancel this game? Player safety has to trump this completely unnecessary (although perfectly acceptable) outreach initiative, doesn't it? I'm fine with them playing this game under normal circumstances, even annually, but not at the expense of player safety. I will ****ing flip my lid if one of our key players is injured due to substandard ice conditions tonight.

Earlier today, Dchesnokov retweeted this image from the rink:

If the ice is so bad as to be a concern for players' safety, sweet mother of mercy, postpone the game. The Caps can barely even skate on the ice at Verizon Center without injuring their groin; I don't want to imagine what the ice in Baltimore might do to them.

seen repeatedly that the ice isn't anywhere near as bad as the pics tend to indicate. Also read that the ice is better than it was at the winter classic, where no one injured a groin muscle.

Are you seriously trying to pretend people being concerned about whether the ice is safe is a homers vs. haters issue? Seriously?

that doesn't look like too bad, i mean for an nhl game it does, but thats not going to kill anyone. also i'm no expert, but how could warm ice cause cracking? i would assume the ice is just too cold, idk though.
