I feel pretty good about my draft so far....still surprised that Stamkos was there at #4 for my taking...
Although I only have one true starting G on roster right now, so that might hurt in the long run. For some reason I'm thinking/hoping Rask takes back the starting G spot in Boston (is that dumb after last playoffs?)
I am relatively happy with my team, but picking 9th tends to be right in the middle of being decent.
I did get several players that I've had success with in the past, but I missed on Chara by two picks. I don't think I've ever won a league without having Chara on the back end.
My goalies are going to be boom or bust with Brodeur and Roloson.
Although, I have to say with the way the points are gathered, I'm really surprised that Nielsen of the Islanders wasn't picked up sooner. He was one of the leaders in Short Handed points last season...
I don't think anyone really realized how much Faceoffs were worth. Hopefully Crosby comes back as Crosby so everyone can whine about me having both him and Ovechkin on my team.
the thing with a large league like this is that it will take a lot of micromanagement to be successful. smaller leagues allow you to coast a bit more with your starters, but swapping in hot hands that are FAs in this big league will be key.
this faceoff win stuff is going to be ridiculous. According to our points system and when comparing stats you don't even want good players you just want people who take a lot of faceoffs.
Steve Ott only got 12 goals and 20 assists but had 183 PIM wait he had 644 Faceoff wins so that makes him the 5th highest scoring players according to our points system. I should pretty much drop any winger I have to pick up a center. I mean Patrick Marleau, Alex Ovechkin, Crosby, and Iginla are all worth is worth less than Eric Belanger according to our system last year. This is retarded

Hey I have 3 of those players.
On a PPG basis, Crosby is still by far the highest scorer from last year. He's over 7PPG. I think the second highest was around 5.

O don't get me wrong I would have picked Crosby up except I had the 15th pick so every superstar was long gone by then. But if I would have looked more into the faceoff wins thing I would have drafted much differently.
I am saying go rank all the players by the last column the thing that says Fan Points. And you will see how backward our league is.

Yeah that was my point too. I would've gone with centers for my first three picks had I known how skewed things were gonna be. Faceoffs are going to add more totals than a season's worth of goals. Yuck.
Oh well. Just gotta hope for some kind of miracle and deal with the hands that we dealt ourselves I suppose.

Oh trust me, I know. Crosby in 41 games put up just 5 fewer points last year than Ovechkin. He outscored Marleau. Spezza beat all three of them even though he missed 20 games. The only players I drafted who outscored Cullen were Ovechkin and my other centers.
I discovered the faceoff and shots issue the day before the draft, which meant that I had to throwout my draft board and just try to get guys that were listed as wings but mostly played center.
It is kind of crazy, I have Paul Gaustad on my bench at LW and in theory he should be better than Ovechkin.
