13 hours on one experiment. That sucks so hard. Also screw bromothymol blue as an indicator.
I have no idea what you just said...

Hahah, well generally an experiment only takes one or two lab periods to complete, unless its a final lab that usually takes 3-4, which is expected. Lab periods range from 2 hours(biology/ochem) to 3-4 hours(Usually Chem).
But this is the second experiment and it is going to take 13 hours, which is 4.3 lab periods.
And Quant is all about being really accurate with your measurements, so the Standard Deviation for your trials must be within .2% of each other.
And bromothymol blue sucks, but if i try to explain why it might take a paragraph.

So stating that you got infracted is against the rules, neat.

Like I'm not even trying to break rules and it happens.

I just noticed my infractions finally wore off...does this mean I need to incur more?

Normally I'd discuss this with you CT but since this has come up a couple times, lets just throw it out there: if you have an issue with an infraction, PM a mod and deal with it off the boards. It saves a lot of time and cleanup.

Quant sucks but it is easily one of the most useful and practical classes you'll ever take. (If you go on in an engineering/lab field of course).

Lets not make a habit of discussing other mods' actions. If you've got an issue, it can be taken up via PM with either Gopher or I, bring it to the attention of the mods dealing with you, or the Admins. Thanks.

Just got back from Key West. Absolutely epic time! Pic of me on the Booze Cruise assuming the bartending role because the chick was taking way too long to pour. Made $20 in tips

Happens all the time. I got one b/c I posted a pic of Randy Marsh from South Park in the "Internet has gone out" episode I was told it was not appropriate for this site. So apparently HFB is owned by Disney....

My one warning (which BTW, was very warranted) consisted of:

Use of "Rosie O'Donnell" may be considered flaming.

I can't get myself to delete it, it just strikes me as a great statement.

Man, all I was infracted for was circumventing the board's filters on url shorteners to send people to inappropriate links...

Have you all heard of the recent discovery of a sub-atomic particle that can travel at speeds faster than light.

The claims of new discovery, if confirmed, have the potential to question Einstein's special theory of relativity, which says the speed of light is the same for all inertial observers regardless of the state of motion of the source and nothing (except hypothetical subatomic particles called Tachyons) can attain speeds higher than light.

Everything we think we know about the universe may be wrong.

Great for scientific progress

It's being somewhat overblown (which always happens when a bunch of luddite journalists try to report science news). The most likely issue is measurement error. We're talking about neutrinos that are arriving 60 nano seconds early. We already have no idea how neutrinos work exactly (that's what the MINOS project on the range is all about). Even if the measurements are accurate (which appears to be the case) it's likely that something occurs during the "flavor oscillations" we're studying which causes them to phase ahead.

The bottom line is, naturally occuring neutrino events (such as supernovae) have not shown the same effect, at least not to a scaling degree. In the event of a supernova (which is likely hundreds of lightyears away) the speed difference being measured here would result in neutrinos arriving several years ahead of photons, which is simply not the case. Relativity has been adjusted before (for new information that "violated" it) and certainly could find a way to adjust again.

Do you guys know that feeling when you meet a girl who actually has a lot in common with you, especially when I'm into the stuff I'm into this is very rare.

Like that person you don't have to hold back around and you can say whatever you want?

My desktop hard drive crash today. It's really made me realize how much I (and everyone else) depend on computers to store things.

I'm not sure what it says about sick days for PT employees but since you made seniority already it shouldn't be an issue; I don't believe. Just don't make a habit of it and I don't think they'll have a problem. Just call in before work and let them know.

My kid's vocabulary seems to have doubled overnight. I still can barely understand what he's saying though.
