The Pensblog actually used to be pretty good at first. I'd check it after games and laugh at some of the photoshops and whatnot. I can't really pinpoint where it went downhill, but man, whenever it happened, it happened fast. It's practically unreadable now, aside from the Wilkes-Blog.

I guess all teams have something like it, at least Pensblog is just dumb and immature, as opposed to borderline psychotic like Abel 2 Yzmerman.

I think at some point they thought that they were more than what they are, they carry themselves as if they are the ultimate Pens fans.

It really isn't that hard to name drop random players from the 90's and early 00's, photoshop players onto wrestlers, and make penis jokes...

As I've said numerous times, they are the ultimate stereotype of those they mock the hardest...internet fan boys. It's not hard to hide behind a blog/twitter account and troll bandwagon fans who are just big "Sydney Crosby" fans...put them face to face with truly knowledgable fans where gay jokes aren't the ultimate comeback, and they would look like school girls.

I know people like to blame TPB for what the change and whatnot, but personally I think it is also us. Not Zen and I literally, but the people who read it. Some people just kinda moved on while some people became those fans we're all warned about when teams win. I used to know quite a few people who posted on TPB and had no problem with them. Now? They're the people who make the fan rules and act if you haven't been to as many games as they have, you're not that much of a fan. It is like Boston fans explaining Red Sox fans, they used to be the lovable losers and now you wonder how they hell any of them got through the dark days.

Also, and oddly I think it went downhill with Chris Bourque and how he created factions of fans who were sick of him and the ones who would argue "HE'S TRYING!!!"

Who's the guy on Gonchar's left? He looks like he could be former KGB.

Yeah it's pretty obvious that it's catered food. Regular folk just don't stock that wide a variety of foods and some used strictly for garnish purposes like that fresh dill.

These aren't regular people we are talking about. These are millionaires. Not saying the food isn't catered but Malkin could probably arrange to make that kind of meal himself even without catering if he wanted.

Having seen Geno make Perogies I think it's pretty safe to assume he didn't do any of the cooking.

Are his parents there? I bet Mama Malkin could cook a mean Thanksgiving dinner.

Amazing article..

After Polamalu returned a fumble for a game-breaking touchdown against the Colts early this season, Malkin feverishly sent a tweet to the Flyin’ Hawaiian: “You best!!!!”

That was an awesome read.

Some quotes that I loved...

Quote:
“I was not scared to come to America,” Malkin remembers. “I was scared what my friends would think of me. I love Russia. It is my country, my home. It was a tough time. But I had a dream, and that was to play for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL."
Quote:
“Big surprise for me,” Malkin beams. “Mario, I love this guy. He’s my hero.”
Quote:
“Geno was great with my daughter,” Gonchar recalls. “She was teaching him English. Once in a while, she would make fun of him for not knowing something she knew.

Quote:
“Sid always helped me. We talk a lot on the phone, and when I go to Russia, he’s always texting me.”
Quote:
“Most times Sid and I watched quiet,” Malkin says. “Of course, when Nealsy scored in overtime we jump around and celebrate.”
Quote:
“I want to win more Stanley Cups, not just one,” he says. “Because I read newspaper and sometimes people say if you win one Stanley Cup, you’re lucky. They say maybe we won Game 7 against Detroit because we’re lucky. I need to win again. Second time, more important."
Quote:
“Maybe this year I win,” Malkin says sheepishly, looking down and shaking his head. “But if Crosby play, I can’t win. Sid always win.”

Sid fuels Geno. You can see that little competitive edge between the two. When Sid does something awesome, the next shift Geno is out there, and he looks wound up.

If those two can get going like we've seen both in the past, Staal and Neal can keep up their production, and this defense gets their game sorted out like they did last season...this is the best team we've had in Pittsburgh since the early 90's, IMO.
