I've always passionately hated Hartnell up until this season. Not sure if it was the look into his personal life during 24/7 or just seeing him in a different light, but he truly is a great hockey player and is a great entertainer. His job is to get under the skin of the opponents, which he does better than anyone in the league (debatable, but still) and he's got 36 goals on top of it. I haven't looked up his PIM stats, but his play seems much less knuckled-headed the past year or two as well... Remember him throwing the glove at Malone on that breakaway? He doesn't seem to make those mistakes anymore, and if he does someone is going to the box with him. Any team would welcome them onto their team with open arms... As a Pens fan, I just hope the Flyers aren't able to lock him up when his contract ends after next season

He's your stereotypical Flyers player. I'd be shocked if they didn't throw the whole bank at him to keep him.

Hartnell seems like a cool guy, he doesn't take himself too seriously.
Yeah, people hate him, but he'd really be perfect here. Heck, I'd buy a Hartnell jersey if they signed him long-term.
The fact is, he's an effective player. He's a thirty goal scorer, a sixty point player. He's a great net front presence on the PP, he's physical, he's a good agitator, he's durable.
I think he'll stay in Philly long-term, they're definitely going to need to find cap room for him though.
