Per Arthur Staple

I hope this is true, keep the kids away from the C and let Streit handle the loud for the next two years

Perfect!

If you track down my HFBoards posts (because you know you do) you'll see I've long supported a Weight to Streit to Tavares set of transitions..

By the sounds of this article we're 2/3 of the way there!

I don't think it should be anyone but Streit.

Staple has done better work in his short time being the main guy than Strang did in her whole tenure...

not a huge fan of this, but i don't make the decisions, Streit hasn't played in over 15 months and most europeans don't make good captains, i love streit for what he brings to our team but i don't think he's the type of captain our team needs plus he will be a UFA after the end of next year and will be 35 so he won't be re-signed and SNOW will be handing the C over to JT or KO ,like we should be doing in the first place

my opinion

Give it to Streit. It's that simple.

What if Streit stays past two years? Does he give up his captaincy to the younger guys?
See Modano and Morrow.

Gillies did, so why can't Mark do it?

some of the greatest captains in history were named at a young age (ie) stevie Y,mario, denis potvin, messier, even sid the kid i think we had a chance to make a statement with our up and coming players by making one of them the captain....i hope streit proves me wrong i think hes a great player not captain material though but none of us see what he does behind the scenes i guess and how our young players look up to him maybe im wrong

This is how you do it boys... Clark Gillies stepped down as captain during the off-season, and Potvin became the team's third captain, a position he held until relinquishing it in 1987. In 1979-80, Potvin's first year as captain, the Islanders won their first of four Stanley Cups. Potvin led the team during its glory years: in addition to the four consecutive championships and five straight finals appearances, in the eight seasons he served as captain, the Islanders never failed to reach the playoffs.

In the past five years, half the captains in the Stanley cup finals gave been Europeans. I don't really get how people still believe this.
