Giving it to anyone but Streit would be a massive mistake.

Staple is just speculating.

I wish he would try to figure out how they chose the captain (player vote, coach's decision, management).

I believe this picture says it all:

Streit - C
Tavares - A
Okposo - A

Perhaps they'll have a different set of home and away "A's"

Not really all to happy about Streit being the captain. All signs seem to be pointing that way but I still do not agree with it.

Will you still feel that way if it's revealed that the players chose their own captain?

To a degree the pill would be easier to swallow if that be the case.

However, I just do not like these stop-gap Captains. You look at organizations that have had several captains throughout their ENTIRE EXISTENCE. We go through them like crazy. Their used to be a nostalgia and sense of pride and rich history with captaining a professional franchise.

Streit is not going to be a long term captain and to an extent this bothers me. I would have rather Okposo.

Thats a good point......I had not though of that....So mayby they should just give it to JT already and for the next 10 years he will lead us to the promise land......

I understand what you're saying, but your perspective is strictly a fan's perspective and likely doesn't hold much water in the eys of the organization or in the locker room. The players and hopefully management are going to award the captaincy to the best candidate who is on the team right now, regardless of whether or not they may be here 2 years from now. If it's decided that JT is that person or someone else that is definitely here for the next 5 or so years, so be it. But, I don't think it would be a disservice to the team if I guy like Streit captained the team for two years and then handed it over to someone else if he were either to leave or just step down.

I believe that wearing the C is really not that big a deal. Leaders will be leaders regardless of a letter being on their jersey or not.

BUT I do think that it can be a big deal to certain younger players who will feel unnecessary pressure because of it. McCabe and KJ come to mind...

Put me in the camp of "let's wait a while before giving Tavares the C."

Thats what I was thinking. That way you would have 4 "A". JT and KO would be two definites. Not sure who the other two would be.

Akin to saying blacks don't make good QB's. It's a stupid statement.
