I was hoping Kirkpatrick would have a slightly better showing. He was on a stacked team in juniors, but I was hoping some of it had to do with him and just went a little unnoticed.
I watched him here in SJ, and he was good.. 3rd in points for the Seadogs regular season, playoffs, and Mem Cup.. 51 assists to guys like Huberdeau, Phillips, Galiev.. Seems like he can make things happen.. In Junior anyways..
You have 34 players in your list. I think that is much higher than what will actually be left after Monday.
You have to remember that the Jets only have two pre-season games after that. My thinking is that the last 2 pre-season games will used to experiment with line combinations, defensive pairings and systems type things. And to assess those few bubble players that they just can't make their minds up about.
I'm predicting that Chevy and the coaching staff will be making some tough decisions after Monday and hack away.
Fair enough. I think that the 3 games the weekend is huge, I am having trouble cutting anyone else on that list right now, but with 3 more games I am sure decisions will come a little easier and they can get down to 26-30, we will see what they want to do then.
Like you said, I am very interested in how they split the teams now that I know that St. John's camp opens Tuesday. They will likely just be leaving a bunch of players there after Monday's game.
Do you think the Carolina game will carry more of our actual roster?
doubt it. You would think they would have the most nhl'ers playing the 1st game to go for the win. I would also expect them to play every nhl'er at least once at home. Hopefully we'll get a look at Kane, Enstrom, etc. vs. Carolina.
I'm not sure about wanting Aebischer to get a deal, I would hope it would be maybe two years if he does. I think Pasquale is going to be pretty decent, as is Carrozzi, and I would like them to get some playing time. It looks like Peter Mannino will play in St Johns as well, so that means Pasquale and Carrozzi splitting time in Colorado. Mason is a UFA after this year and will likely not be retained, you would think.

Neither Mannino or Carrozzi look too great imo. Pasquale looks quite good, but he's still young. So backing up the AHL or starting in the ECHL wouldn't be a bad thing for him.
I like the idea of Aebischer in the AHL. He's come back to the NHL humble and understanding that it's going to be a process for him to make it back to the show. He had the ability at one point, and I'm not going to under value his desire to work his way back. He wants a chance to EARN a spot somewhere. That the type of attitude I want in our organization.

I would agree more if this was next season, as Mason would be a UFA and Aebischer could be brought in as a replacement. I would love to see Aebischer and Pasquale in the AHL and Carrozzi starting in Colorado, but I'm not sure on Mannino's contract status. We may see a Mannino-Aebischer partnership in St John's.
Can someone give any update about Pesonen? Does it seem that there will be a contract proposal for him? Has he recovered from his injury he got in some of the first games?

Aebischer has said it's NHL or bust for him, he doesn't want to play in the A. They were talking about it on TV during the Columbus game.

Actually, they were saying the exact opposite, I think during the Columbus game, that Aebischer was willing to take an AHL role to make it back to NHL. They did say that he was auditioning for all 30 teams, yes, but also that he would willing to work for it. Anybody else have confirmation on what was said?

Hmm, maybe I wasn't listening fully then. Thought that's what they were talking about.
