Tomas Kundratek: Face on A Milk Carton?

I posted this is the GDT #2 but maybe Leslie or someone else can help answer this;

I've heard next to nothing about him in camp this year and the fact that he's not playing tomorrow night is not a good sign. Has he been totally invisible? Looks Whale bound to me.

Completely slipped my mind, but you're correct.

With the small number of guys we're taking to Europe, you've got only a 3 game window of opportunity to show the coach something.

And by the sound of it they'd already made up their minds who those players were. Hard to believe TK will be one of them.

A couple of things. First, Kundratek has gotten bigger and stronger. But he has not stood out. He has another year on his contract and Valentenko does not. Valentenko will get the long look.

It will not hurt Kundratek to play in Connecticut this season and then get a chance next Fall.

Hope that helps.

Kundratek, while solid last year in Hartford isn't the type of player who stands out. If he makes it, it will be in the same mold as Mike Sauer. Not very much offense to speak of, solid and tough defenseman.

I still think he will be one of the defensemen heading to Europe.....

Staal
Girardi
Sauer
McDonagh
MDZ
Erixon
Eminger
Bell
Valentenko
Kundratek/Parlett

likely unless McIlrath goes

All I heard was good things about Kundratek last yr so I think he has a shot in a yr or two and getting called up

Thanks as always for the knowledge Leslie! It may have been you or Jess Rubenstein on Blueshirt Banter/Underground who said the organization is very high on him and loves his skating, so it's strange to hear so little.

It really isn't a big deal if he starts on the Whale; we all know Opening Night Rosters never match the end of the year and a few guys on the Rangers including the Captain and first pair Dman weren't even on the radar at the beginning of 2006-07 but made their make for the stretch run and playoffs.

I think your 100% correct. If Vtank doesn't stick we lose him on waivers maybe, Kundratek is not in that situation.

On who goes to Europe. Since Staal isn't playing until the season starts--is it ten d-men including Staal or not?

The 10 blueliners going to Europe includes Staal. But Torts said yesterday it may be 11 D-men going. The plane will leaved for Europe immediately after the game Monday night in Phillie. Everyone will have to know by this weekend, perhaps when the cuts are made.
