Potulny playing (with AHLers).
Laich at center.
Ovie and MoJo still together.
Carlzner and Scheen pairings reunited.
Still no Brouwer.
Vokoun in net.
Brain Fahey is in Chicago?

- Fahey signed an AHL contract with Rockford, Chicago's AHL affiliate (looks like he isn't playing but Lepisto signed with Chicago)

- First preseason game for Potulny, Ford, Aucoin, Richmond and the goalies

While not wearing a no contract jersey during camp (Erskine is), Brouwer isn't ready for game hits at this time.

As to Laich at center, all 3 of those players can play center so have to see how they line-up for faceoffs, etc.

According to Tim Sassone, some Chicago lines/pairings:

Brunette Toews Smith
Saad Bolland Olesz
Mayers Kruger Stalberg
last 3 would be Flick JHayes and Segal

Keith-Montador
Seabrook-Hjalmarsson
Olsen-Fahey

I guess in the preseason they don't make the teams spend the night before in town? Because I totally saw the whole first line at camp this morning.

Saad looked really strong yesterday. Interested to see him with Bolland. Also interested to see Ward.

Yes, the norm is to fly there and back the same day during preseason.

You should have seen all the player playing. Updates out of camp were that the practice was for those playing tonight plus a couple of others with those playing tonight getting tomorrow off and practice tomorrow for the players who had today off.

Something tells me McPhee would prefer there wasn't, probably a good thing Molleken won't be there

Don't think anyone was trying to say there's a cba rule about having to stay overnight. As to the Caps, last regular season game I recall being same day travel (outside of possible weather related travel issues) was a game against the NYI a few years ago.

I do think that based on statements by the likes of McPhee and Boudreau, the team considers last year an aberration brought on by an offseason bout of mono, and want Schultz right back on a minute-chewing pairing with Green. It may not work out that way, but it seemed to me that this was what they wanted to do.

Alzner and Carlson, Schultz and Green, Hamrlik and Wideman. Erskine the seventh. Nice to have options, though, if Schultz falters. Best defense they've had since the '98 corps started to age. I'm happy with that group.

I thought I remembered at least one quote from McPhee where he said he saw Hamrlik playing with Green?

The Caps have the most talent on D they've had since the days of Gonchar, Calle Jo and Tinner.

Caps VS Blackhawks...

Vokoun in goal. Ovechkin, Knuble, Laich, etc. playing in this game. Should we start to get concerned if they lose again? I think not, with all the juggling of players and lines, but it would be nice to see a win. It would be nice just to be able to see the game. Is it televised anywhere? On-line?

He also said he wanted to see more of Laich at center. But ultimately it's up to Boudreau, who's made comments about having Laich at wing and how Schultz has played well with Green.

i listened to the mcphee interview on nhl live on monday. he believes that his team suffered a "hangover" from getting bounced by the habs and were crippled in the second round of playoffs when wideman was unavailable, green was hurt in game one and carlson hurt in game two v tampa.

boudreau has said that schultz was hurt significantly by the mono and that he never recovered. mcphee has said that hamrlik does for the caps what poti did. mcphee has said that hamrlik could play with green, but poti ever played with green.

looking at the total body of comments i would not discount the idea that the hamrlik with green comment wasnt a reminder for schultz. but that is reading deeply between the lines.

i like pairing one to be an all situation paring, down a goal, up a goal late. Sarge is not that guy. So down a goal late, we will be shaking up our D pairs, if Sarge and Green are together all year. I want to see the hammer get a long look in that role.

I think Sarge's game was hurt for not trying to improve his game over the past 3 years, more than mono wiped out his entire last year. He starts hitting in the playoffs versus Tampa - its a bit late to the party.

Trying new things in April hurts more than mono did in August.

Sounds like a play who actually hits so we know this isn't the right name.
