Iginla likes to get open, into shooting positions. He's offensively just as good with the puck as without it. That's what Thornton prefers too, shooters to get open. Iginla is great at it so Thornton would see him there with his RH shot, he'd be setting him up all over the place, and Iginla would be cashing better than any Shark ever could. It's not about who's who, it's about who's open. and Iginla always gets open.
Honestly this whole argument that his totals would drop are ridiculous, it's wrong from the start. Iginla doesn't play like Peter Forsberg, he doesn't always want the puck, You guys are arguing about a player you don't even watch.

Your assumption that a better supporting cast means more production for Iginla is a false one. There's no guarantee that with better players he gets more production because there are more options which means less touches. If Iginla was the only one getting open then fine. Two things wrong with that idea though. One is that if it's the same guy getting open all the time, teams will find a way to defend it. Two is that he'll be playing with guys like Patrick Marleau and either Dan Boyle or Brent Burns. Those guys will get open too and in Marleau's case, just as much as Iginla would.
And I sincerely doubt that Iginla would score 56 or more with Marleau and Thornton so I would reign in the best ever stuff. This is that same nonsense that Sens fans thought with regards to Heatley and while Iginla may be a better player, it doesn't mean that he'll fit here like you think he will. We play a different game and Thornton isn't the player you think he is where he will look for Iginla, only Iginla, and Iginla will always be open.
