Dan Shulman actually gave me advice on being a play-by-play man. No word of a lie. I have him as a connection on LinkedIn.

yeah, he sounds very smooth and totally unscripted when he talks. very great on the spot, a notable example was the death of osama. nobody expected that, i remember learning of the death on that sunday night baseball broadcast actually. he had some very kind words for something so surprising and emotional to all americans.

orel hershiser is another guy i'm starting to like now. he does a great great job of teaching you about pitching. he doesn't try to waste his knowledge on something out of his zone instead he sticks to being very informative about pitching and everything to do with it. he throws in some funny comments about not him wanting to face certain hitters in certain situations either. i used to think wow, all this guy does is talk about pitching but it makes sense, if you are a former pitcher, especially a hall of famer, why wouldn't you stick to what you know?

completely agreed, the new crew is much better now.

I can't wait until these baseball threads die off for a while. Its nice people care about the jays, but having stickied threads about something that the vast majority of Leaf fans could care less about is a bit much. Bring on the puck season!

Or you can ignore the thread genius. The baseball threads aren't going anywhere same as the raptors one. FYI no one cares about your opinion on the matter.

Tough to ignore when there's more stickied crap about non hockey related things than actual hockey. I get it during the offseason, but in general you want to check the stickies for important Leaf news or discussion. This thread is about the end, I'm just chiming in that I'm glad its close. Sorry if that chaps your ass in some way, it wasn't meant to.

If you don't care, then ignore the thread. We don't need to see useless post like that.

Oh and there are quite a few Leafs fans who actually care about the Jays.

Besides, have you seen some of the threads Leafs fans make here daily? Absolutely worthless and pointless but of course, unlike you, I don't go there complaining about the thread(s).

There is an ignore thread feature. The little red "X" box that shows up to the far right of the thread title, right before the starting poster/post count. click that and you never see the thread again. Everybody wins.

Also the Raptors and Jays discussion threads do stay up during their sports' off-seasons AFAIK. They did last year too. It's not my call, it's the Leafs mods', but I'm almost positive they stayed last year. and at least this one will likely stay active with discussion about the team.

If you don't like them, ignore them. Nobody here really wants to here about it.

Brewers and Rangers also clinched.

Braun's HR to clinch it for the Brewers was pretty sweet: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=19559793

He's a great guy.

He lives about 2 minutes from me and also coaches the Rep team here that I used to play for.

Gave me wonderful advice as well. Just throwing that out there .

So sad the season is coming to an end, but already excitedfor 2012.

I'm probably more of a stat guy than anyone else on this board, yet I personally like Pat and Buck's approach. I don't watch baseball games for number crunching, I want them to build a narrative, make it a dramatic event of several intertwining storylines.

Though maybe I'm just nostalgic for Buck's voice haha

Tough to ignore lol. How lazy are you? I ignore threads everyday. If something gets locked I ignore it. If something doesn't interest me I ignore it. This thread will end when it's all full and then a new one will be started because there's enough interest to merit it. The NBA is on strike and there's still a thread for the raptors so that should tell you something. There are two threads for the jays that will likely be turned into one for the off season. When baseball starts back up it'll go back to two.

I'm glad for them. Especially, Johnny Mac. Hopefully, they can go on a bit of a run.

Sportsnet Pacific insists on sticking with Bos/NYY to its conclusion.

Booo. That means I'm stuck watching on the Ontario channel in SD. Screw you Rogers.

Oh McCoy. Love that warning track power.

EDIT: looks like it's up to me to carry this GDT what with the Leafs game on.
