Are these websites spewing BS or did I miss something?

"Sharks starter Antti Niemi reportedly could be out 12 weeks -- sidelining him for the season opener on Oct. 8. Backup Antero Niittymaki could be out until January"

Niemi should be ready to go at the start of the season, if not earlier. Nittymaki is the one who will be out 12 weeks. I think it's a case of no one paying attention while writing or doing any fact checking.

he was terrible when people wanted him last year, I dont see why an NHL team would even look at him. He needs to retire, hes bad for 3 or 4 years now.

Sure. And while we're at it let's bring Belfour and Fleury out of retirement and see if we can trade for Selanne at the deadline.

Make it happen DW! Nabby can hold down the fort until Nemo's back.

No thanks. People thought Turco would bounce back playing behind the Blackhawks' D, and he was awful.

I wouldn't mind getting Nabby back if they really don't want Greiss as the backup this year.

I like Greiss. He looked way more confident and in control yesterday.

I thought Marty would have been a better backup last year before we got Niemi. My reasoning was he is good at corralling the dump-in and starting the breakout. That was a more important skill with our clearly deficient defense last year. Then I saw what he did in Chicago and realized I was overrating his puck stopping ability now. So on today's team, his strengths are not what this team needs, and yea .... he's washed up. Greiss is ready for a backup role and I'm comfortable at this stage the three goalies we have will suffice. If we have a problem, there are alternatives on the open market and in the minors.

BRING BACK NABBY! A 7th round draft pick would get him for sure.

I doubt that. Snow isn't going to let him go that cheap. Not with Ricky D a constant injury worry, and Montoya still being a bit of a question mark. Also, Snow didn't go to all that trouble of making sure he kept Nabby's rights just to let him go for a 7th. I virtually guarantee that if Nabby plays relatively well, Snow will trade him for at least a 3rd.
