in every bad news there's a good news , true that Duchene will be away for a month , but the fact that he wont need a surgery is a good news .
I see this as good news in other ways.
1. Cheaper contract. He shouldn't have as much leverage now and would sign for 4.5 rather than the 5+M range.
2. He's out. He needs to relax and just watch the game for a while. He tries to do too much. Someone argued with me that he made a lot of chances previous games but he always spins, seldom passes, and results in a turn over. If only he could use his teammates. If only.
I agree that we Duchene being out isn't as big a loss to the Avs as it would have been his rookie season, or as much as it might seem to outsiders.
But its a huge loss for my 16 team fantasy team. I had to drop him and pick up Chimera, he was literally the best option available. Hope I can keep my lead down the stretch
People really think Duchene being out is a good thing? Wow.
I didn't read much of the above since his diagnosis was released, but from what I'm seeing is it's not a "Good" thing, but since he hasn't been that great anyway, it's not "as bad as it could be" if he were playing to the level we expected of him.

What I am assuming people are "getting at" is that Duchene's injury is unfortunate, but he has been struggling most of this season and his loss is easier to handle than others. ...at least that is what I hope people are insinuating.
His loss is tough to swallow and I feel even worse for Duchene- injury after injury this season. Get well soon #9!
Seriously, we're going with that method of thought?
Losing Duchene sucks. Good season or not... teams focus on him each game. One less weapon for them to worry about now.
Exactly.
Even when he wasn't producing, the opponent had to respect what he is capable of. This drew the attention off of our other lines and helped them to produce.
I hope all these injuries that Matt has makes him a beast during summer training, and comes back and adds some muscle. In all honestly, the way Matt plays he needs to be harder to knock off the puck.

been saying it since his rookie year. He needs to call up Gary Roberts and train with him. In fact Gary Roberts should be our strength and condition coach

Maybe he'll become BFFs with downie and they'll train together. Didn't downie train with Gary Roberts last year?

Thank you! So many people on these boards jump to conclusions about a post without even actually reading it. They see a few key words and immediately go on the defensive.
As for Duchene, it sucks that he is out because there was always a chance he could get hot again. However, as others have said, it's not like he was a world-beater this year or anything. The key thing is for him to be fully recovered, hopefully ditching the knee brace as well.

What really stinks about losing Duchene is that other teams' top pairings would focus on Duchene, freeing up the O'Reilly line. Now that he is out, that line is getting focused on. Another line needs to step up BIG if the Avs have any chance of making the playoffs (Stastny- I am looking in your direction).

His goal and assist last night say challenge accepted.
