Chorney is another undersized (6'0) offensive D-man with questionable hockey sense in his own zone and not overly strong on the boards. I did think he improved over the past year, but there are so many "meh" D-men like him in the NHL/AHL. It's normal for D prospects to bust... too few spots in the bigs.

FTR - I'm simply not a fan of sub-6'3 D-men without elite hockey sense.

I guess the Blues just need somebody to sit in the press box, otherwise they would have called up Ian Cole. I wonder why they didn't just call up Danny Syvret though? I guess they figure Peoria needs him more right now.

Nashville claims McGrattan, STL claims Chorney.

Nashville puts Zach Stortini on waivers, Minnesota puts Eric Nystrom on re-entry waivers.

I'd expect Nystrom to get picked up at $700k.

Habs could use a guy like Nystrom, be a player to put on our fourth line. Betts situation fell apart, so I would welcome Nystrom to play on our 4th line.

I know hes not a faceoffman. With Eller coming back we would have the 4th line center taken care of for now and have some more muscle for that line with say a Moen and Nystrom.

He is a former 1st round pick, still is only 28 years old. He had good numbers in Calgary and I personally think Minnesota and him were not a fit for each other.

Cole Plekanec Kostitsyn
Pacioretty Gomez Gionta
Darche Desharnais Palushaj
Moen Eller Nystrom

Ex. Engqvist

We put in a claim already and it didn't work out, I say pick up a guy liek Nystrom at around 700k would be ideal for what we need. Worse came to worse when Cammalleri and White came back he would be a scratch player, allowing another season for Engqvist to develope more in the AHL.

Wonder if Dallas was not the team that asked the Wild to put him on re-entry. They have to get to the floor I guess.

If they had to get to the cap floor, if I were the Habs I would try to make a move of:

Spacek +

for

Fistric

Fistric is the type of dman Montreal needs 1 more of right now on their backend. With this deal, Dallas gets their cap they need to make the floor and they get some assets maybe to go along with the cap hit to make the deal work.

Damn, surprised someone took McGrattan. Also a little disappointed.

I expect someone will certainly take Nystrom, then.

And then they put Kosto on waivers? The Flames do not really have room for him, its possible I guess. I hope he ends up with the Islanders.

The Flames look like they are lacking heart and motivation after their first 2 games. If the team feels that Nystrom was a positive locker room guy during his previous time in Calgary, they could consider making room for him to come in and be that guy again.

Nystrom is one of my favourite players but I really dont think the Flames would take him. That cap space serves one purpose. Darryl Sutter is not the GM anymore.

Isles should snatch up Nystrom. $700K is peanuts to grab a player that will likely create a stir. Probably be on the back page of Newsday..."Prodigal Sons Returns"

Not even an Isles fan but i bet they sell alot of Gillies and a Nystrom sweaters again!

We have no room for Nystrom. We have Martin and Reasoner as our permanent 4th liners, with Pandolfo, Gillies, and Haley fighting/splitting that time on RW. Pandolfo has played really well, so the chances of Gillies playing are slim. If Pandolfo wasn't signed and playing well, then I could see the Islanders claiming him. However, Martin isn't being sent back and Pandolfo has been good.

Plus his daddy said he can't wear 23 if he ever played for the Islanders, which would've been pretty cool but sadly will not happen.

Still hoping honestly, I think he would be better than Pandalfo on our 4th line over the longevity of the season

The Wild is doing Nystrom a favor. They're trying to let him catch on with another team since they don't want him anymore. Classy move. I've got to think he'll be claimed. If he isn't, then I suspect they leave him down there. This is a move to gauge interest from a taker. For half price there should be one.
