Cam Janssen vs Trevor Gillies

The first fight was kinda ruined by the linesmen but the second one was great.

I love Gillies !

This is old time hockey ! If only we could see it in each NHL game...

It's such a soft league right now. It's pre-season hockey and there is only 1 fight per 2 games ??? Unbelievable

Impressive fights from Gillies. Really, Janssen didn't seem to play to his normal style of waiting for the opponent to tire out, and he didn't look all that good as a result.

Janssen got worked. Interesting to see Gillies trying to explain himself after that last punch in the first vid. I can't see a particularly good reason to throw a bomb over the linesmen, wonder what he was saying.

I remember watching Gillies do that to Tangradi...

Gillies, like Cooke is an embarrassment to the NHL...here's to hoping Steve MacIntyre annihilates him this season

The Pens were also embarrassed when the tried to "bury Gillies" in the rematch as Gillies clearly took care of Godard.

I'm shocked that Cam didn't spend half the fight trying to shake off his elbow-guard...

The Pens were embarrassed? The Isles proved to the whole league just how big of a joke they are. I guess if you call goons blindsiding and suckerpunching non-fighters 'tough', then yeah, the Isles proved how tough they were.

'non-fighters' ? anybody on skates wearing the enemies sweaters is fair game. there are no 'designated' fighters.

Janssen didn't lose that fight, it was a draw. Janssen landed the better quality punches, while Gilles landed more punches.

That was a very fun fight in person, us Isles fans love Gillies. I just met him today at the Islanders annual meet and greet event at Adventureland, he was by far the coolest guy there. He really took the time out to talk to every fan, sign whatever they wanted, and take funny pictures.

He really is a good guy and did express regret for what he did in the Pittsburgh game, us Isles fans don't agree with it either.

I know another fan said that somebody tried to give him a picture of him dropping somebody in a fight, and Gillies politely refused and said "I don't talk bad towards those that do the same thing that I do, nothing but respect".

Speak for yourself, I can't stand that dirtbag. Incredible fighter, but terrible player to have on your roster.

I think it's kind of unnecessary to call him a dirtbag. I can completely understand fans not liking him on the team because he's "a waste of a roster spot", but Isles fans are quick to forget that we were the softest team in the league for years and we suffered because of it.

I think he's useful for games that we know there will be trouble.
