Picket Bobby Peat as my 5th overall pick in 2015. 19 years old, 85 OVR Power Forward, B- B- B-, 5'11" 200 pounds.

His potential is only C B- C after a season, but he'll be 90+ OVR for a good decade.

I'm in the 2016 season and I've yet to see one...anyone have any tips for scouting to uncover them because I got a different message than I've seen from my scout at the start of the year saying that there will be some special players out there...does that mean that there is a franchise player out there ?

Thanks

you dont need to scout to find a franchise player...they are just very rare.

I created a player, made him a 85 overall and he was automatically a franchise player

Ok I'm seeing a lot of 8.0/8.5s in yellow for a couple players so maybe this is the year..also how do you create a prospect?

Yes, it does. Or, there is maybe a guy who is like 74 A- A- A-. Probably means a franchise guy is there.

Another thing...I'm seeing people say that they created a prospect and drafted them..how do you do that I made a goalie (nothing special just decent potential as a long term backup) but I'm not sure how to get him into the prospects

Thanks again

Actaully I got a guy named Brennan 88 Ovr, A- all stats. He became a 99 Overall two years later with B Potential (idk how that works). Sorry bout the last post, thought I was on Dynasty Thread.

Create your player just like you would any one else. Birth year should be early '94 or late '93 for the 2012 Draft. I forget the cut-off date in the game but in reality it's 18 years-old before Sept. 15(It might be different in the game). You can make even younger players for the 2013 and 2014 draft. For the 2014 draft, give your player a December 31, 1995 birthday.

Make sure your players rights are not held by an NHL team. So make sure it says "None" before you change his age.

Assign your player to a CHL team or a European team. For the WHL and the QMJHL, your player can not have been born in 1995 but you can make him a year older, put him in the Q or WHL, then go back and make him younger after he is on the team. It's the same for the Euro leagues but he cant be under 18(I think). So make him 21 years old or so, the after you've moved him to the team, give him a 1994/1995 birth year.

When you start your GM, he should automatically be in the Prospects section.

I might consider doing a sim GM just to make sure they are all in there before you start a 25 year BeAGM.

If you've already done all that and you can't find your goalie, make sure when you're scouting to switch from Skaters prospects to Goalie prospects(If that's not already obvious).

If that doesn't work you might've assigned to NHL team. Check Anaheim's list of goalie prospects in your BeAGM mode.

Iv'e found a way to get one every season. Ill save at sept 10-12, then sim to the 17th, That starts the new season. Ill go to central scouting and list the players in order of projected skill (At this point it will show all the franchise/top 5/10 ect) If there isn't a franchise player in that class, il exit the gm mode (without saving) and load from the last save at sept 10. Sim to the 17th again. Now a completley different class of players will be there. I keep doing the steps until I eventually land a franchise player. It sometimes takes a while before I find one. I wouldn't sudgest passing one up because I tried that once, (didn't want playmaking winger lol) and must of tried 100 + times to find one again before giving up. Overall it's a quite easy way to load up on tallent!

Why would you do that?
Thats the fun of the draft - the potential to get a great or bust player.

Franchise player alert:

Francisco Visentin in the WHL (I believe). 2015 or 2016 draft.

Comes into the NHL as 82 overall at age 19.

Nick Ritchie (2013 or 2014) comes in as a franchise player as well.

Exactly. He probably plays with the Cap off. I'm sure we could all do what this guy does but that's not how you play the game. Year after year there's a chance a "Franchise' type player can come into the league. I adjusted the overall skill set/build of players that are supposed to be a top 5 pick and leave the rest as they are. I like to tweak a little but it doesn't guarantee a "Franchise player".

Just so you know I only have ever drafted 1 franchise player in the 5 seasons I have played. I only experimented with the method I explained. I was simply giving a tutorial to the people who might want to get a franchise player if they really wanted one. You shouldn't be so critical of the way people play a video game!
Oh yeah, I play with the cap on...

I apologize if I offended you. I just think that doing something like that takes the fun out of finding a franchise player. I follow the GM tasks and I hope to find a franchise player. It is your game to do with it however you like.

I have horrible luck.
My friend has amazing luck.
My friend has done 3 BAGM's: Windsor Firebirds(14 years in), Seattle Scorpions(15 years in) and an Ottawa Senators one(7-8 years in).

In the Firebirds one, he got a franchise centre - Glen Palin.

In the Scorpions one, he got 2 franchise centres and a left winger - Ian Holden, Arthur Wild, and Phil Stokes(who got up to 97 overall).

In the Sens one, he just got a franchise left winger - Justin Perrault.

In all the ones I've done, I haven't gotten one. Closest I've gotten is Jerome Giroux, who was on my since deleted accidentaly Ottawa Goats BAGM. He was 85 A A- A- at the time.
My luck is horrible

How do you tell if a player is a franchise player?

In the part in the scouting screen where it says "top 5" or something does it say "franchise" instead?

I guess the closest I've come to a franchise player in my 23 year gm team so far is a guy named Nathan Kaminsky, drafted him in the 2nd round when he had 67 overall and B, B, B potential.

4 seasons later he was 84 with the same potential, weird part is he had 86-89 in all attributes but was still ranked with an 84 overall.

Yeah, it will say "franchise" instead of "Top 5".
On September 17th, check the "Scouting Report" section of the scouting option, located in GM Options.
It will say their projections there.

Say I just ended a season in Be a GM. I sim to the 17th and the scouting report automatically says there's a franchise player? (If there is one.)
