Buses weren't even stopping at Blair, just kept on passing through. One of the Citizen bloggers, posted something on twitter saying the victims were both men, and both "bad guys." It was promptly taken down.

I am also curious to see what the motives were. Honestly haven't seen such a police presence before.

Most likely gang related. Hope it's this rather than a dude shooting random people.

What a minute...

Happened inside, or by a tanning salon?

Drug related.

Evan Jaudziekars, is a server at the mall’s Mongolian Village Grill, said people in the mall have told him the shooting took place in or near the Caribbean Exposure tanning salon, which is at the Zeller’s end of the mall.

I read that a witness saw people in the salon doing CPR on the victims.

From the Live Ottawa Citzen Blog:

Quote:
CBC: Witness reports hearing 4 or 5 shots, saw ppl performing CPR on victims inside tanning salon.

Yeah same. That is just scary ****, having a murderer for the sake of murder rather than for the sake of money or territory or whatever. Obviously both are scary but you get the point I'm sure.

Scary. I live at Beauparc near Cyrville which is just a 15 min walk there down Ogilvie. No wonder my mom keeps saying this isn't a safe neighbourhood.

I'm just surprised it didn't happen at the Bayshore Shopping Center. Common occurrence in that area. I know because I lived right besides the mall for three years.

Hope they find the culprits!

Looks like this was indeed a drug related killing. From Gary Dimmock's Twitter:

Quote:
The coke dealer gunned down at the Gloucester Mall tonight is described by cops as a maniac. He ran blow for Hells Angels. Graham Thomas.
Quote:
Police say tonight's cocaine killing was a 'professional hit' by rivals.
Quote:
Update: Ottawa cocaine killings: 2nd vic is Jason Chapman, and Graham Thomas took a bullet in the face. He ran coke line for HA.

I was working at Silver City, just across the street when it happened. We had to send the employees home in cabs after work cause the bus stop was closed.

Crazy thing is that I sometimes go get food there at around that time on break, I easily coulda been there when it happened.

Not that I am an expert in professional hits, but I can't help but think there are probably more discrete ways of doing this than in a mall with security cameras and witnesses.

Well, it is a down economy right now, and even the criminal world is affected, so you pay for what you can get.

Several dirty tanning salons in the city.

Funny note, if you search the name Graham Thomas in google a graham thomas (grizzum) twitter comes up and brings you to an account with this display pic:

I have a friend who knew one of the victims and is pretty upset at the moment. As far as I can tell, she's oblivious to the drug/gang connection. Never a good thing when these things happen in public places where innocent people could get caught in the crossfire.
