Wideman just took a good pop behind the net, there. Apparently he's headed to the dressing room. Heads up, Orlov!

Beautiful pass by Bourque (although it should have been blocked) and Eakin knew what to do with it.

Impossible. If he's not on the point then that means whoever is on the point is better than Ovechkin. Or something.

point is that if they move 8 down low, he gets covered and doesnt touch the puck much if at all.

Its going to be a tough call with the kids. I don't see any of them making it threw wavers. Someone will take a shot at any of them. And I really hope they take there time with Orlov. No matter how good he looks.

Players far more effective than OV was last year managed to find plenty of space at the half wall. The only way he doesn't touch the puck is if they're overcommitting so much to defending him that the rest of the team is pretty much left to do whatever they want. AKA we just solved last year's problem of being unable to find a lane if our life depended on it.

Let Wideman run the PP!

On the other notes (too quick to be good conclusions but anyway):

- Eakin should be good subst for Chimera next summer (and cheaper)
- Orlov belongs to Hershey so far
- Johansson looks promising, bigger, more confident and still fast on his skates
- Halpern seems to be faster, bigger and more aggressive than BGordon - nice upgrade

it doesnt work like that. if ov is down low the box packs in low and around him. they take him and the shooting lanes away as a rule. if the jackets had some nhl players out there tonight, they might be able to do that.

Jesus, Wideman. That's pretty impressive footwork to get that shot off like that.

No PP zone entrance?
Another Semin's penalty?

Trade Semin, fire BB. And... bench Schultz!

not sure it's been mentioned this offseason, but john walton's pleasant to listen to. i will make a much more regular practice this year of watching games while listening the radio feed.

Everything I've seen from Brouwer in the 2nd has been great.

Hamrlik's little shimmy gets that to go. Sweet.

What a difference a year is going to make by having Hammer and Wideman on the blueline/PP.

It really is nice seeing someone else on Ovi's line making space with the body.

That last hit by Brouwer, did anyone else notice the way he switched to a bit of a backwards skating stance before he threw the shoulder to shoulder hit? Was that a positional thing, or is it more about preventing that hit to the numbers? I don't know that I've seen it with much consistency in years past.

Im just not buying that.....you can get open down low on the PP, and he does. They can cover you regardless of where you are if they know, well...where you are

yep, i noticed that. wonder if it was self-protective? in any event, it seems like a smart way to hit these days.
