It's the second only everyone was talking about. Kesler 70% up to game speed is still better in the lineup than out.
he's been really bad so far. i dont know if theres any benefit to the team for him to come back this early on the injury. he has often looked like the worst player on his line, and has only looked good in front of the net on the pp.

Vancouver Canucks
Ryan Kesler and Keith Ballard join the list of #Canucks out with injury; Mason Raymond cleared for contact.

Oh dear.

More time to get Hodgson some quality ice time.... if AV allows it.

Kesler needs time to fully get his hip right anyway. I hope when he comes back that he plays a simple game that involves passing the puck once in a while. Enough with these stupid wrist shots that go off a stick and into the netting!

What is the nature of Kesler's injury? Hip setback?

Most likely. Hopefully he'll let it get 100% this time before making a return. I have to think that flying leap during the Chicago game knocked something out of place.

Something also has to knock some sense into his noggin too. In an interview the day of the Chicago game Kesler said he was feeling fine and thought he had just played the best two Canuck games of his career. (The Ducks and Islander games)

..so, can the Canucks bury Ballard on LTIR even if he was bending over to pick up a cracker so we can find a D-man who can actually play for that salary?

Oh dear Kes. Your ego is starting to get the better of you. I think Hank needs to give him a few lessons on how to be a gracious winner and loser.

I think Kes's injury may be a shoulder issue.

Kesler has shoulder tightness from crashing hard into the boards. Expected to play on Sunday.

They should really just sit him if there's any chance he could aggravate it. Our season would be done if he we're out for the year.

Why don't they just keep him out a bit more as a precaution? We don't need him rushing back into the lineup.

maybe because, although he's a very important hockey player to our team, he's still a god damn hockey player... it's a sore shoulder...

If Pittsburgh's season wasn't "done" when Crosby AND Malkin were out then we should be able to get by without Kesler. Thats why we have a Jack Adams winning coach, right?

Kesler is skating fine i do not think his hip is a problem. To me it is mental. He was not doing well 5 on 5 the last 25 games last year either, but kept playing d and special teams well. This year the team not playing as well and Kesler is frustrated. Now he is cheating to try and get offense. I do not think he is injured and sitting around waiting for it to be perfect would not help anyone. His timing and puck movement is poor not his skating and mobility

And run the risk of aggravating it for the rest of the year? Like Canucker said, if the Penguins can survive without Crosby and Malkin shouldn't we be able to get by without Kesler for a little bit?

Mike Gillis said on Team 1040 radio that Mason Raymond will be back in the Canucks line-up this week.

Vigneault and Raymond say they don't have an exact timetable for his return yet, but I think we can assume he'll make his season debut in one of the games on the upcoming road trip. He's been cleared for contact and skating on a line with Booth and Kesler in practice.

Here's an article with more deets: http://www.theprovince.com/Mason+Ray...medium=twitter

How have they been doing, lately? Even with Kesler this is a .500 team this season. The Canucks are proving they can't get along without Torres and Ehrhoff, why add to the list of missing assets from last season? Also, if they could possibly spare anybody, why is Malhotra playing?

Canucks do not look like a team with depth at all, any where.

If you sat every player with an owie or booboo as a precaution you would need to have a 40 man roster. This ain't baseball, if you ain't hurt somewhere you ain't trying hard enough.

It's not just "an owie or booboo"... it's his freaking hip. His entire game is based around his skating.

No the owie being discussed was a sore shoulder.

As for the hip as soon as he was cleared to play let him play. I doubt that he can damage it so it is a matter of getting use to it and strengthening it and so they might as well play him.

Yeah no sitting Kesler for owie booboo's!

Kesler's hip is fine, his conditioning CLEARLY is not.

You're talking about a guy, who spent the ENTIRE offseason before last, training, taking shots and making sure he was game ready...

The reason he's not up to speed is because.. he's not up to speed. Having him sit out and train isn't going to do him much better. He's just going to have to slowly catch up, week by week.

I'm concerned about bringing back Raymond too soon. We just saw how effective that has been for Kesler and Malhotra.

Are we really putting Raymond into a position to succeed? Is his skillset really that much better than Booth right now? Both are rushing puck hogs - is Raymond's imminent return really that important to Kesler's production? It's not like he's coming back from a minor injury.

There might be salary cap issues due to him coming off of LTIR, but right now I have a bad feeling about it.
