Is it okay of me to suspect Kesler to play by late next week?

I'm guessing he comes back for the NYR game on the 18th.

yeah he's out for the road trip (even though he's traveling with the team). I'd say more likely he'll slot into the Nashville game.

IF everything goes great and he has NO set backs I think we could see him get limited action against Edmonton but considering he's had hip-soreness last couple days I doubt it.

I just hope he isn't rushing back. We need his health in the playoffs.

Henrik is missing practise after the hit from behind by Methot.

Vancouver Canuck captain Henrik Sedin is not practising this morning with teammates, one day after he was hit heavily from behind in Monday's 3-2 victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Sedin appeared to hurt his right knee when he fell after being drilled in the numbers by Marc Methot.

If Shanhan is consistent that hit should result in a suspension for Methot.

According to Bob Mac there won't be any disciplinary action.

The Canucks should circle Tuesday 29 November 2011 - Blue Jackets at Canucks on the calendar.

Go after Methot early and often and do not give him the chance to run and hide.

According to Iain MacIntyre, Henrik has a bruised thigh.

"I'm fine," Sedin said today. "Just a little sore. It was a little swollen, but not too bad."

The report on Sturm was an injured wrist.

You’ll notice that some teams consistently suffer higher injury totals than others. (I’m not gonna drag up the man-games right now, because the point here isn’t to throw anyone in particular under the bus, this is just to share what happens behind closed doors.)

Well, like coaches, some medical guys subscribe to the “this is hockey, you can play hurt” attitude too. Some still believe in “do whatever it takes to get ‘im ready.” Hell, some just want to keep the coach happy so they can stay on staff.

Those guys are dangerous.

It's a pretty short piece, but an interesting point. I just wonder if this applies to us at all? We seem to get a ton of injuries every year.

Just came to post this too.

Really would hope that Hank sits for 2-3 games to let the swelling got down.

Hopefully when Kesler returns that allows Henrik to rest till he's healthy. No sense in making guys play through their ailments.

Plus that gives more of an opportunity to Cody on the 2nd line.

I'm not sure I buy it. Most Canuck injuries are fairly sudden ones and the player is out for a while.

Just looking at last season:

Salo: Torn Achilles tendon
Bieksa: Broken foot
Alberts: Broken wrist
Hamhuis: 2 concussions
Ballard: Concussion and knee
Ehrhoff: Vertigo
Edler: Back
Rome: Sprained MCL

Malhotra: Eye
Burrows: Shoulder from previous playoffs
Glass: Abdomen
Samuelsson: Concussion
Raymond: Broken thumb

I'm not sure how many of those you could really pin on that phenomenon. In my opinion Salo, Bieksa, Alberts, Malhotra, Ballard, Ehrhoff, Samuelsson, Raymond, and Hamhuis can all be dismissed out of hand because they're all from single identifiable incidents. It's not like they had lingering problems that eventually got worse. So that leaves Glass, Edler, Rome and Burrows, and Burrows' injury was from the wear of the playoffs, so I'm not sure I'd consider that either.

Maybe Edler's back wouldn't have gotten as bad as it did if he'd been more cautious, and maybe you could say the same about Glass and Rome. But other than those two, I can't see any relation between the Canucks' injuries and how conservative their training staff would be. I suppose some of the guys may have had their bells wrung previously leaving them more open for a concussion later, but that's just speculation, especially since none missed much time at all with PCS.

Yeah, on the flip side you might also see teams with inflated injury totals because they're extra cautious with their players and make sure they're completely healthy before they return where on other teams they are pushed to play and hold off on rehabbing until the off-season.

Raymond has been working on strengthening his back, even taking light skates. No setbacks. According the agent the plan is Christmas return.

What good is a goalie if he can't shoot free-throws?

Sadly, Shaq shooting free-throws has better odds of success than the Canucks winning a shoot-out.
