I think they should change their name Blue Jays instead of RRS.

Oilly: Moss you can scratch off from the goalies, he's not coming back. Word is that Steve Passmore is one vet they are in talks with to tutor JDD.

Jamie Wright is coming back.

You can add a free agent invitee named Martin St. Pierre. He was 3rd in OHL scoring playing for Guelph. He's tiny but he'll be here in September for a tryout.

Other than that, I think you're good. There always could be changes though.

Wow, I'm quite surprised that Morrison won't be back, with Tyler Moss signing a tryout in Germany with Adler Mannheim.

Mikka coming over surprises me, too.

Any information on if Peter Hogan and Brent Henley are returning? When I saw Tomas Micka at the propects camp last year I liked him and found him quite skillfull.

This lineup looks pretty good. The top two lines have good skill and hustle, good energy line and some up and comer skill guys.

Not 100% on Hogan but Henley was signed back in June or so... he'll challenge for a RR job.

Guy, maybe you can answer this. Zach Stortini played some games with the runners last year, including 3 in the playoffs. Is he signed or what? Or was he under a temp contract to get his feet wet and then head back to junior? Just curious.

Amateur Tryout Contract. He was only allowed to play in the AHL once the Sudbury Wolves were completely done for the year. Same thing this year, expect to see him in the AHL again in late March.

Where are they going to put Morrison...

I mean, he's certainly AHL-calibre, so him being in the ECHL is an absolute waste, and it would be nice to keep him with the rest of the prospects so the brass can see him as often as they see the rest.

I really like Morrison, and it would be a shame to see him not get a chance.

Here it is in a nutshell:

JDD is going to get slightly more than half the games this year, say 60-70%. They'd like to get a veteran to help him adjust and tutor him all year. That's sometimes a hard guy to find, someone who's willing to do that job and put a kid ahead of themself. They thought Moss was going to be the guy but he got an offer from Europe.

Passmore is in the running but hasn't agreed to anything yet, and I don't know if an offer has been issued, only that they've talked.

Morrison showed last year that he can play at that level. However, the other side to the coin for him is that a stint in the ECHL as the #1 guy wouldn't hurt either. Sitting in the AHL again and playing 25-35 games might not help him get better either.

We'll see in the next few weeks how it pans out, but It's my impression a vet is Plan A and Morrison is plan B... but plan B is far from terrible.

toby peterson,I beleive he is 25 and the oilers signed him earlier this summer. From what I can remember off the top of my head is that he was in the penguins system and has very good speed and is your typical above average ahl'er.Probably has an outside chance to play a few games with the Oilers next season.

Toby Peterson. Supposedly has "offensive flair". In my opinion he's an average minor leaguer who's getting hyped because the Oilers don't have many capable forwards on the Roadrunner roster. It will be sad to watch this team lose almost everynight. How painful it will be.

In other news i would rather watch the WHa anyways so... meh...

they'll only improve from last year, and they were certainly respectable last year.

Yikes, the WHA is going to be horrid, if it even gets started. That Original Stars league will take away a ton of players, and Europe should mop up the rest.

I think the Runners are weak at forward, but they might have the best defensive group in the AHL next year, Lynch and Woywitka might both be all-stars. JDD is a wild-card. If he can play better than Valiquette did last year I think the Runners will easily get in the playoffs, if the travelling doesn't do them in...

I think you'll be surprised at how well the RR's are going to do this year. You underate their abilities IMO.

The WHA??? Are you kidding? You are right?

I think this discussion can be linked to Nedved as well. If he doesn't sign with the Oilers, what are the chances Lowe moves either Smith or Brewer to get the #1 centre he "promised" (assuming one is available). That would Lynch and/or Woywitka would move up to the big club.

Peterson is a very good AHL player... it probably won't translate to NHL success, but the way I look at it is this:

The Runners lose Rita, but gain Peterson, which is about a wash in terms of offensive production.

If guys like Hunter, Winchester, Cullen, etc... start the season they way they played in the 2nd half, the Runners are going to be a very good team. They had about the 3rd or 4th best record in the league in the 2nd half of the season last year when all the kids started to turn it up a notch.

Defensively and in net, they will be very good.

Yes, they are the same Jersey's as last year except the new logo replaces the old logo. Not too much difference but personally I like the newer logo better then the old one. It looks better on the Jersey too.
