Nathan Beaulieu NHL Ready?

Anyone else think he had a really good game? Probably one of the best playing D-Man out there other then PK who is a given better offensive D.

Anyways Opinions?

Skates well, sees the ice well and has a great hockey sense. Only thing he needs is some weight on that frame of his.

If he was built more, he would be ready.

I can see him being here until the end of the exhibition season. His play tonight showed he should get multiple looks. I can't see the Habs keeping him this year. I expect he'll go back to the Q.

He was solid tonight in all areas of the game.

In 2 years. Subban and Beaulieu on the PP. That is going to be out of this world.

1 game.

That's always enough to base things off of.

Budaj and Mayer for 1-2 punch while Price, Lawson and Delmas battle it out for AHL ?

Looks like a future NHLer for sure, but right now he wouldn't be even good at the AHL level. He looked really raw tonight.

I'd say he needs at least 1 year in the AHL.

He looked good tonight though, even against an NHL caliber roster.

He did well against NHL competiton tonight. He's definetly ready, DOn't know if he would develop differently though, all the pressure in MTL.I don't know if he should go back to the Q. I would see about putting him in Hamilton, then being first call up. ( MAinly, because I live near Hamilton and could watch him play a lot.)

Not NHL ready obviously but thats by far the best game I saw him play.. I will say this.. This kid will be better than Hainsey no doubt, he displayed amazing skills all the game long, cant see him not making team Canada junior if he keeps playing at this level with the seadogs.. what impressed me the most tonight was his speed, never saw him skate like this.. He will be great no doubt.. he has to gain strength and know when to join the rush but what he showed tonight was pure hockey skills.. can see why some compared him to Subban now.. dont know if he is going to be as good but what I know he will be a player.

He looked good tonight but there is no need to rush him. Remember the last guy we rushed is playing in Minnesota now. He is a good two years away but its very exciting to know we will have him and Subban on the power play in the near future.

He and Subban already have a great chemistry out there on the PP, nice to see already. With age, maturity and fine tuning they will be a great combo as the 1st PP tandem.

I never felt scared when he was on the ice which says alot. He looked so poised even with some gutsy risky offensive moves. Can't wait to see him play more games!

Fact that he played almost 30min! vs almost a full NHL lineup is awesome. He would definitly have his place in the NHL if he can keep this sorta game up but I got a doubt he will. My guess is he goes back to the Junior but with a great taste of the NHL and a bright future coming soon!

Agreed, kid could play and the Sabres had a hell of a lineup, Beaulieu isn't that far away, I hope he can get bigger in the next 2 years. Very good skater and I hope he shots more but overall I'm very impressed

In 2 years with Markov, Subban, Beaulieu, Yemelin, Gorges and one of Weber or Diaz.....this surely looks good ! Let's not get too excited though !

Whoa, he just played his first NHL game...

Like I said in the GDT, hopefully he gets the chance to play another pre-season game.

I would force him to stay away from the NHL for 3 years no matter what.

He is Really Skinny. He needs to fill out before making the NHL. Stupid CHL rule that you can't play in the AHL.

Would you compare him to Letang? I didn't have a chance to watch the wole game but late in the third....he was interesting to watch. I liked what I saw in Gallagher too.

The way he played he has at least deserved another game, should play against Ottawa this weekend. If he plays another solid game, I'd even play him in one of the 2 bruins games

I am no expert but he should be playing in the AHL this upcoming season, from what we saw tonight he needs to be playing in a more competitive league, AHL. He should be skating against bigger faster guys instead of juniors.

So, if he is too good for juniors but cannot play in the AHL, do we have another Latendresse situation? What do you do with him? He clearly is too good for junior.

this is a joke right?

I mean he looked good as an 18 year old especially in the offensive zone... but this has got to be a joke.

Sucks but he can't, NHL or Juniors. I hope he will take part of Team Canada at the World Juniors

He's tall and somewhat lanky, and while he's obviously not very polished in the defensive zone (but more so than PK at the same age I assume), he makes the smart play and seems to see the ice very well in the O-zone. Also a very fluid skater, which helps him get out of trouble. Definitely a future PP QB.

He actually kind of reminded me of Erik Karlsson.

Edit:

RickMoffat Rick Moffat
Beaulieu admits too nervous to sleep before his NHL debut.
