Forwards: Andy McDonald, Scott Nichol, Jamie Langenbrunner, Vladimir Sobotka, Alex Steen, Patrik Berglund, Chris Stewart, B.J. Crombeen, Chris Porter, Matt D'Agostini, David Backes, T.J. Oshie, Ryan Reaves, Evgeny Grachev
Defensemen: Barret Jackman, Kevin Shattenkirk, Alex Pietrangelo, Carlo Colaiacovo, Roman Polak, Nikita Nikitin
Cullen is out for precautionary reasons after the Tangradi hit, and Spurgeon is suffering from a bruised rib (per Russo, wild.com has him listed as playing). Backstrom is getting the start tonight, and it sounds like Halak will be facing off from the other end.
I'm excited to see if Wellman has made any progress. He's likely one our first callup if a top 6 forward gets hurt (or should I say when). It'll be good to see Schultz out there for the first time as well. Hopefully he's back up to speed and not suffering any ill effects from his concussion.
Its going to be a great game, the blues are looking like a good team this year, on paper atleast. I wanna see what Wellman can do on that second line.
Crazy prediction I hope comes true:
Wellman has a strong game and its only the start of his great coming out season. He continues to impress eventually taking over the second line center spot for good. He ends the season with 50 points
I will have to bring the laptop to my night class to see it all unfold.
I am very excited to watch Wellman between Lats and Bouchard, but I also know that Wellman hasn't really done much to prove he belongs in the NHL. He's got an NHL shot, and that's about it.
If (like Russo keeps blabbering on about) Scandella "makes it impossible for them to send him to Houston," who goes down? I imagine the pairings move to:
Schultz-Zid
Lundin-Scandella
Zanon-???
Does that move Spurgeon back down, or is there some press box time shared by the underachievers?

I'd imagine Stoner fills out that last spot and Spurgeon takes Lundin's slot until the latter is ready to play. Do we have a timeline for his return yet?

I guess I've just been assuming he'd be ready for the start of the season (like Schultz) but that's not based upon anything at all. Haven't really thought about the fact that he could miss time.

That would be rad. As long as Cullen is out of there, I'm happy.
I recall hearing from Yeo on KFAN a little while back that the best defensemen will make the team and he won't worry about who plays in the 'top 4' or not. He more or less stated that six defensemen who are playing are all going to get significant ice time regardless and you've only got issues in terms of development if he were to be sitting in the pressbox.
I think that's probably the right take. But at the same time, he's going to have to make a case to get himself on the squad because it seems Spurgeon's a virtual lock, while Zanon probably isn't going to be relegated to the press box. Which leaves Stoner (barring injuries to the rest of core), he played well last season from my perspective but he can't rest on his laurels. Not to mention he's really the only physical presence there. It'll be interesting to see how this develops regardless.

Rather have Stoner out there than Spurgina lol
I find those sentiments sexist. I am contacting the local Slutwalk organizers to have them march around naked in front of your house to teach you a lesson.
