According to Regin's dad, Peter is still hoping to avoid injury this time. He will se specialists the next couple of days, and hope he will be able to come back in a week or two.

But i know what most of us are thinking...

Honestly I think Regin needs to have a good long meeting with Murray and Murray needs to be upfront to Peter. The results of that discusssion should help Regin make up his mind based on the doctor's prognostic.

Regin needs to be told where he stands with the Senators and then make his mind. I don't think it would be fair to Regin to leave him in limbo only to have him try to come back and get a serious injury.

If he comes back in 2 weeks he's an idiot, he got injured on 3 non-serious looking hits so far, and honestly taking the rest of the year off for surgery and recovery would be best for his career and health

He might feel that if he doesn't play for a new contract that no one will take a chanc on him. I think I'd agree with this assessment.

Nothing posted since December 23rd, so I would assume there's no news?

If Murray is confident Regin can come back before the playoffs, we might not need to add anyone for trade deadline day.

I'm afraid so too. Even if he comes back he won't have enough time to show that he's worth keeping around over Silfverberg, Zibanejad, Stone, Turris, Greening, Condra or Smith.

If he gets back to health I guess Europe is his best option as I doubt an NHL team will care enough about a guy who's 2 years removed from showing a pulse in his career.

I disagree. Before his 1st shoulder injury this year, he looked really, really good. Looked like he would fit in with MacLean's system to a T. The next time he was injured he hadn't played enough to assess, but based on his early season play - we'll be either tendering him a qualifying offer and letting him battle it out for a spot, or trading his rights to a team who likes him - and there should be more than a couple IMO.

I'm with you, sign him to $1 million/ 1 year and if Regin is healthy next year he could be the best bargain in the NHL - he can definetely play on this team and would make our depth amazing. Condra is a good player but having Regin at 2nd line LW, Condra playing on the 3rd line where he belongs and Neil on the 4th line would really help the depth of our team in a big big way.

I still like Regin, I hope he recovers and comes back to Ottawa next season.

Agree. Plus, I always got the impression that McLean likes him based on his comments in interviews, etc. I think he gets another chance, but as a LW.

So apparently Mendes is saying Murray said that Regin is most likely done for the year, and he's still thinking over whether to have surgery or not.

Obviously not surprised by the news, was hopin he'd maybe be healthy enough by the deadline to be traded but doesn't look like that will happen, perhaps at the draft.

Not sure why he's still mulling over surgery or not, get it done already!

I expect we will not offer him a contract and he stays back in Europe, at least until his shoulder is proven. The NHL may be too rigourous for him short term - third surgery and all.

I can't imagine we won't at the very least offer him a qualifying offer. To just let the kid walk outright is a little crazy.

If we did decide we didn't want to hold his rights anymore, I'm sure we could at least get a pick for him from a team that wants to gamble on a talented kid with injury troubles, rather than just let him walk.

The surgery itself could impair the joint's mobility, strength, etc
If the injury doesn't end his NHL career, the surgery could in the end
Best option I see is trade him for a pick at TDL or Draft
to a team that wants to take a gamble on his shoulder
If his shoulder returns to form he would be worth a "decent" pick
