He is a useful tweener that is a versatile forward so yeah if he was healthy he could have contributed...but he's very fragile.

Also Kyle Turris put up most of those stats as a 19 year old and then 21 year old...Regin didn't break into the league until he was 22.
there is so much wrong with that post, i won't even get into it.

Regin could've been a solid player for us but I guess the shoulder issues are just too much.

I doubt we keep him; I hope someone sees the upside and trades for him.

Unfortunate for Regin. He seems like a humble guy who wants to do what's best for the team. Dude just couldn't catch a break. Hopefully his hockey career isn't over.

I'm busy trying to believe that we can make the playoffs. One thing at a time, please.

Gets hard to keep coming back from such a devestating injury. There will always be some discomfort in the shoulder that he will have to play though, a surgery isin't going to 100%correct this problem. Havlat had this problem for quite a few years.

It's unfortunate for Regin, he has some awful luck. Hope this ain't the end for him, you got to think he's going to be very frustrated and bust his ass to get healthy again and contribute.

Get well soon Regin!

It's the end for him in a Senators jersey

I feel so bad for Peter. Every time he comes back he re-injures his shoulder.

I dont see this injury as a plus, I never said that. I wouldn't wish injury on anyone...
But even if he comes back 100%, I just dont think he can put up points in the NHL. Next year especially there just wont be room for him, so yeah I believe this team is better without him.

I don't even care if it's not in a Senators jersey. Regin gives you that noble and modest vibe and I hope he makes it "big" either with us or on another team eventually as a legit 2/3 C

This team is better without him.
Unless he is bad in the room, which he isn't, how is a team better without a player that they choose to have in the line up when healthy?

I fully respect that everyone's opinion, and I too had higher hopes for where Regin would be at this point in his career, but some of these comments really are ridiculous. In order to answer to the claimed "hype" in here, some posters anti-hype Regin and make him worse than he truly is.

I trained race horses for years and 9 times out of 10 injuries can be mitigated by proper conditioning. Alfie used to get hurt all the time early in his career until he learned to train to lessen the risk of injury. Regin needs to get the surgery and hit the gym.

once the shoulder is unstable i think it becomes a pretty consistent thing. it really is too bad for the kid, but this might be the end of the dream for him.

This really makes me upset because I thought he came back early this time around and lo-and-behold he injures his shoulder again. Please hang the skates up for a while. Hit the gym, work on the core and legs and come back better than ever. I really think he's been underrated by the fanbase; he can be that 15 goal, 50 point two-way player we'd love to have on the team.

I really hope he recovers this time and we see him in the NHL again, preferably in a Sens jersey.

LTIR.

Feel for the guy, perhaps if he can have a strong summer of rehab and conditioning...we might see him back here next fall.

What? Maybe you don't understand how the internet works over here. I just need this thread to complete studies towards my internet medical license. Lots of guys on here are just a few posts away from opening up their own practice.

But since healthcare is free in Canada, you don't get paid much.

I'm sorry for those stupid comments. But don't worry too much, some people are just clueless. People who have been following NHL hockey for a long time (AND who have some insight) know that Peter Regin is a quality hockey player, at worst a 3rd line center and very efficient defensively.

More on Regin, from another post I've made on another thread :

PS : That's another thing I don't understand on HF... What does " Regin has proven nothing " means?

I mean, he has played 151 NHL games and has been scoring at a 28 pts pace (10 goal, 18 assists per 82 games) and is + 9 on a team that has been struggling at Even Strenght. Anyone who has been following him knows that he is among the best 2-way players on his team (Sens don't get scored on a lot when he is on the ice. Coļncidence? not really). His stats line is about Kelly's in his first 2 years in the NHL... Difference is that Kelly played on a much better team in a period where more goals were scored... Kelly also had more ice-time than Regin.
