They have to trade a contract to fit Couturier in full time. Right now he isn't one of the 50, but he will if he makes it past 9 games.

How happy are Nashville with their bottom six forwards? Maybe this is something a lot smaller than what's being speculated and it turns out to be Nödl for a pick or something like that?

Ya sorry double name post...But I think their bottom six is a strength on their team, it is the top 6 that seems sort of thin.
I'm not a fan of moving Hartnell at this point. His cap hit has become more tolerable due to the cap rising like it has, and compared to players who play the same style his contract is pretty fair. (When he's playing like he can)
Hartnell is a heck of a lot more important to this club than many folks realize.....Nobody consistently crashes the net like Hartnell, especially during playoff time...Keep Hartnell here no matter what his cap hit is at the moment.

Yeah, I know that, but it wouldn't be the first time there is a rumour about a big name trade, only for it to turn out to be two career minor leaguers apparently selected at random being traded.
Could be just me wishing it isn't Hartnell though. I think he'll be really important to this team this year.
I'd rather not trade Hartnell to make room for Couturier, but if they can get something of value (high round draft pick + NHLer/solid prospect) then I'm all for it. I just don't see that happening.
Hartnell stays imo unless its huge deal (which i highly doubt). Paul was talking all summer about getting bigger on the wings and trading Hartnell would be counterproductive. With that said this is Holmgren we are talking about.
With lappy on LTIR and Read making the team the cap space sits at 442K. This is of course assuming the 6th/7th D spots are Lilja and Bart w/ Shelley as the 13th forward. Most likely something will be done because there is no wiggle room but like most of you I hope it's just the waiving of Shelley or something small.
