Philly/Nashville deal?

There is obviously a lot of talk going on about this possibly deal, nothing about it surprisingly on our board yet. Just thought I would post this and get some feedback from you guys,

Do you think this trade is involving hartnell? If so, who would we be sending to the flyers?

Personally, I think the only untouchable prospects for a Hartnell trade would be Ellis, Blum, Beck, Smith, and Hellberg.

I could see Josi being the guy, he would be missed but would be good move, also josi would gel well with sbisa.

Hartnell isnt really anything we dont already have... Another Hornqvist. We need a Sniper, a guy who can create his own offense on a nightly basis.

at the right price, aka a D prospect+ and a pick (not a 1st) and we have a deal.

i could see O'reilly being sent to Philly

The more I think about it, the more I go with this line of thinking. I don't think Hartnell is what we need.

Exactly, I don't want another 40-50 point scorer and an additional 140ish PIMs.

Well Poile did say he was waiting for another "Mike Fisher" to present itself at the right time. Hartnell is in that category... NO POILE NOO

Having a guy like Hartnell and Hornqvist on separate lines would be fabulous. That said, he isn't the dynamic offensive presence we need. We could do better. We could also do far worse. Harts never should have left IMO.

This also makes me think what it was that made Poile say no to Carter...Thats if we are actually talking to them

Id trade Josi/Ekholm + Latta for Courturier

I feel the same way, in the sense that having another 20-30 goal scorer can only be a good thing. Of course we can always do better, but those chances only come up every now and then. If we acquire him, we'll have more offensive depth, which we could definitely use.

Favorite player.

Wish he had stayed on the team but it makes no sense to bring him back.

Depends on who we give up, I loved Hartnell and I'm sure most everyone did as well. I'd trade O'Reilly for Hartnell right now.

If Philly wants Ellis, I could see us wanting JVR or giroux. But if Ellis goes for hartnell I would not be in favor of that at all!
I would Harts back, but we need a more high end offensive player.
Briere, JVR, Giroux, would be only guys on philly worth dealing for to fill that void we so desperately need to fill...

As a die hard Flyers fan, i hate the thought of possibly losing Hartnell, he is one of the better net crashers in the NHL and he is tough when playoff time comes around.....If he is dealt to you folks, i will be driving up from Destin Fla to watch a few more Preds games this season.....You folks have a nice Arena up there in Nashville, i have got up there a few times over the years and really liked the down home feel of your Arena and its fans etc.....Good luck !

From reading the comments about Ward in the fish wrap this morning, I doubt we're targeting Hartnell. The team is built on youth and speed and while I always liked Hartnell, he doesn't fit the speed quotient that the team is probably looking for. I could be wrong and we're looking for another big body up front but I just don't see it from the comments made about the way the team is built.

I'd love to add a dynamic scorer and all, especially at the price that some of you are willing to pay, but let's face it--they don't grow on trees and the hockey world is shocked in the rare event they're traded. Hartnell is the realistic sort of playertha we a) have the assets to bring in and b) could be available. I'm not sure I agree that we don't need another 25 goal guy when we didn't have ANY last season.

I dont think Ward and Hartnell are really a good comparison either, not in a way that says we wouldn't want to add tha kind of player. We still need a big, physical guy to crash the net and screen on the PP--Hartnell is considerably better than Ward in that regard.

He also has two years remaining on his contract for actual dollars beneath 4 a year, loved playing here and I think "fits in".

I'd give up one of the defensive prospects and O'Reilly without a second thought.

Agreed, but I am not sure Philly would accept a defensive prospect plus O'Reilly.

What about Ellis+ for Couturier?

No way Philly gives up Couturier. Part of the reason why Hartnell is rumored is because of his $4.2 cap hit.

I would love to get Harts, but I'm not sure there's room unless we package a bottom 6 plus mid pick/prospect. Spaling + 3rd/COR?

I don't think we'll trade Spaling. I think the combination of Smith and Geoffrion has made O'Reilly completely redundant. Philly can consider trading Hartnell because it looks like Couturier will make their team.

I'd offer Josi and O'Reilly for Hartnell and a 5th.

No biggie how about either Ellis or Blum for Hartnell+Nodl...

Sounds good to me.

If you really want Shelley you can have him too.

Haha

I can't see anything getting done between these teams right now, from what I've been reading you guys have Ellis/Blum then Josi a step below. Whats the deal with Josi's injuries

Sorry if I'm a bit unfamiliar, figured yous would likely know best.

Also do you likely see them dealing one of Ellis/Blum for a guy like Hartnell +...

And how far from NHL are all these guys???

you arent getting Blum. he stepped right into a top 4 slot immediately upon being called up last year.

Ellis could be trade bait. We were apparently going to trade him to boston for the #9 pick this summer if Cotourier had still been on the board.

Josi is either fragile or amazingly unlucky, but when healthy he is apparently the shiznit.

I know hartnells cap hit is 4.2 but what is his actual cash salary for this coming year?

Whats the deal with Ellis, is he NHL ready? Play any games for you guys.

And realistically how does he fit into your plans and what would be a going rate for him. We have a 2nd rd pick from the Kings I'm sure Homer will throw away for free lol

I think Hartnells actuall salary for this year is something like 3.9 then 3.5 for next year. Somewhere in that ballpark.

I'm gonna go look it up.

Hartnell is 3.7 this year and 3.2 next year.
