Lets really stick it to Team Amway tonight. Hopefully our 10 best players aren't out like last game.

Well, we know that two of the best (Kane and Hossa) are in, so that's a start!

Very excited to see an actual NHL roster on the ice for the first time this preseason.

Detroit has the 1-2 lines +Bertuzzi out. Should be as easy win for Chicago like the last game was for Detroit.

Brunette-Kane-Hossa
Saad-Toews-Stalberg
Bickell-Bolland-Frolik
Olesz-Smith-Mayers

Keith-Leddy
Hjalmarsson-Seabrook
Lepisto-O'Donnell

Crawford
Salak

Those are the lines out of practise this morining.

This will be a good test for Saad. Still don't see him making the team, but I'd love him to replace Bickell on the third line, even as soon as next year.

wonder if no Emery on the bench means anything. Or just resting him for Friday.

Intresting to see them going with Smith over Kruger at the 4th line center spot. I'm guessing they like his physicality in that role.

Smith has the grit to play that role. Kruger doesn't.

Simple as that, really.

Probably with his hip and all, just giving him the absolute best chance to suceed on Friday.

To be honest, it's only our board that's been assuming Kruger would be the 4th line centre. If it comes down to that, Smith/Mayers are better options in that role. Hawks brass would likely want to see if his offense can shine through in the AHL as opposed to playing on the 4th line in the NHL.

Still, he hasn't been sent down yet, he should get another chance to have a good showing, but with the "emergence" of Olesz and how well Stalberg's played in the pre-season, there just doesn't seem like there's much room for Smith or Kruger this year.

It's going to be fun, especially next year, to see which prospects are going to jump up and grab spots. Everyone seems to be on a near level playing field currently.

If Saad doesn't have a good or better game, that top line will be in trouble.

FINALLY, the line up I've been waiting to see. This could very well be close to the line up we go into the season with, IF certain players prove they can hack it. It's do or die time. Here are the four things I will be looking for in this game...

1. Saad. If he has a big game I believe that he starts the season with the Hawks as a trial period until Sharp comes back. Let's not forget how good Saad-Toews-Stalberg has looked at times.

2. Smith. He needs another big game like last game to show that he belongs at this level. He's also centering and I believe if he does well there he'll be our 4C.

3. Lepisto v O'Donnell. Very telling that these two are the bottom pairing in today's game. I think they're trying to see which of the two they like better there. IMO, Montador isn't playing today so they can see who will be the last starting defenseman.

4. Kane. How will he play as a center?

Although Kruger has been a love child of Stan Bowmans for quite some time, I think his average play in camp certainly has the organization wanting more. There is a real possibility that he plays in Rockford this year.

Plus they probably want to look at Smith at center instead of wing. Sorta like Kaner.

But yes, Kruger needs to step up, because he just doesn't have the grit to center the bottom 2 lines. And he's not playing well enough to center the 2nd either
