Not an impressive camp/preseason for the Wild?

Damnit, we liked him. He had a good pre-season, just too many players that already have a spot on the Pens for him to stick.

Had a feeling someone would claim him, could be a good pick-up for the Wild

I wish he would have gotten a longer look from the Pens. He was playing well for them when they had all the injuries, but then got his ass kicked in a fight against an Avs player, which resulted in a concussion. He's since gotten past the concussion, but there's no room for him with a healthier Pens lineup this year.

He isn't great at any one thing, but has a solid all around game, a strong NHL body and could turn into a good depth player in the NHL. I've always been impressed with him, but like I said, no room in Pit right now.

Yep, not surprising in the least.

Solid player, but nothing spectacular. Every team has 2-3 Nick Johnsons, but it still sucks to lose the depth. Too many players in Pittsburgh for Johnson to ever really latch on with the Penguins.

Wish him all the best.

Wow, didn't think he would get claimed. Don't care either way, most Pens fans knew he had little to no chance of making the team.

Will be a good depth player for Minnesota though.

he is like 26 years of age, he is no kid. He is an ahl player who should only step foot on nhl ice when 3+ forwards are injured.

Give it a rest, christ, you've been ripping Pens' prospects every thread you can find the past few days.

We'll just probably end up claiming him back, unless Ray gives his old assistant a pass. I mean Yzerman did manage to sneak Ritola into the A last year despite being a claim from the Red Wings.

Liked him, he just wasn't ready for the big time before he lost his waiver exemption.

Hmmm.... Minnesota are pretty deep at wing compared to most other positions. I'd say there is a pretty strong chance that he ends up being waived again, in which case we'll bring him back down to Wilkes Barre.

On the other hand I wouldn't begrudge him making a splash and winning an NHL job. He could be a more than decent 3rd line winger if hitting his stride. Just as he could easily prove to be just not good enough to be anything but an elevator player.

Just like no team would claim him either, right? Stop embarrassing yourself...

For Minny fans:

I've watched Johnson a lot and he is NHL ready now, there just wasn't a spot for him on the Pens. He actually had a good preseason, but it was a numbers game.

His nickname is "Dangles" because he has some really flashy hands, but you may not see that at the NHL level until he becomes comfortable.

Johnson is starting to learn how to use his body to create traffic in front and he found ways to manufacture points most times he was called up.

Basically, he just needs a shot to play in the NHL. He could be a 12-15 goal, 35 point guy I think, if he gets his NHL wheels going.

Friend of a friend who went to Dartmouth with him. Great guy, wish him all the best. Stinks he's not a Penguin anymore...that made it just that much cooler but...I hope he gets a shot.

Not surprised the Wild picked him up. They have a lot of Penguins connections so it looks ideal. Hope he can make something off it. Wasn't any roster space for him in Pittsburgh anymore.

Sharks and Penguins...I wouldn't mind if the Wild developed into a hybrid of the two.

Wild GM owe's Shero a favor. Shero says "Dupuis for Cluttertruck", and Wild GM agrees.
