I wish he would have gotten a longer look from the Pens. He was playing well for them when they had all the injuries, but then got his ass kicked in a fight against an Avs player, which resulted in a concussion. He's since gotten past the concussion, but there's no room for him with a healthier Pens lineup this year.
He isn't great at any one thing, but has a solid all around game, a strong NHL body and could turn into a good depth player in the NHL. I've always been impressed with him, but like I said, no room in Pit right now.
Makes sense given all the ex Pens guys in the Wild organisation.
Yep, not surprising in the least.
Solid player, but nothing spectacular. Every team has 2-3 Nick Johnsons, but it still sucks to lose the depth. Too many players in Pittsburgh for Johnson to ever really latch on with the Penguins.
Wish him all the best.
“The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile, but that it is indifferent. If we can come to terms with this indifference and accept the challenges of life within the boundaries of death, our existence as a species can have genuine meaning and fulfillment. However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light.” - Stanley Kubrick
Hmmm.... Minnesota are pretty deep at wing compared to most other positions. I'd say there is a pretty strong chance that he ends up being waived again, in which case we'll bring him back down to Wilkes Barre.
On the other hand I wouldn't begrudge him making a splash and winning an NHL job. He could be a more than decent 3rd line winger if hitting his stride. Just as he could easily prove to be just not good enough to be anything but an elevator player.
