Slava Voynov

We just finished only the first preseason game, but man this guy was on his game. His mobility on the power play added a much-needed dimension. He thinks the game well, great hockey sense -- this guy can play. I'd have a real hard time keeping him off the opening night roster.

I have high hopes for Voynov, also why I drafted him in my league.

I like that he drives the net on the offensive end and joins the play often. Kind of like Alec Martinez but maybe more offensively talented. He definitely has the speed, skill, and hockey sense. He seemed a bit shy to take a shot at times. The slapshot from inside the circles was questionable.

I don't think his defense was really tested this game though. (How could it when the Kings had the majority of the puck possession time? ) One moment that comes to mind is him making a dangerous pass through the slot on his own end while a few Phoenix forwards were still in the area.

I do think he belongs on this team. If there was anything negatively noticeable of his game it was probably just first NHL game jitters. Really looking forward to seeing him play against the Ducks.

I hope his defensive game is as good as his offensive play tonight.

I prefer Hickey's physical play and defensive awareness.

Yeah it boils down to, do you prefer Hickey's positional play and physicallity or Voynov's creativity and offensive awareness?

I thought he started off rough, made like 4 or 5 weak bonehead passes, but first game working out the kinks and he got better as the game went on. Maybe he'll keep his locker

considering that they make take a spot for a PMD and so long as they aren't paired with Greene I would rather have Slava as our #2 PMD till Doughty comes back. but I think Hickey appeals more to TMs defence first system.

I just like the fact that they both seem to be making a case for themselves.

That's a good sign for the organization going forward.

I don't think it's that big, but I would give an edge to Voynov but that's in huge part deal to injuries with Hickey. But, I think it's safe to say VV can and would put up more. just my opinion.

the only poor play he made was on the 3 on 2 in the 2nd he lost the puck at the blue line, while the 2 kings not on the rush were changing resulting in a 2 on 1 the other way. Luckily his skating ability meant he could get back and strip POS of the puck before a chance developed

Assuming Doughty signs, there's still no room for either one to make the roster except as a #7, and I don't think that's a real good place for either of 'em.

Agreed. Hickey is also less prone to take the risky offensive play, at this point. But the offensive skills are there. He's got a fantastic outlet pass and a very accurate point shot.

I'd rather keep Scuderi , we need some veterans and cup winners on the team.

Cut Drewskie loose and Trade Matt Greene. He is a great guy and very friendly and funny; the players love his humor and antics but Hickey can easily replace him and Voynov can split time with Martinez and Hickey. If a bottom pairing of Martinez/Voynov-Hickey/Voynov will burn us then idk but Matt Greene is no wizard on D also. His play dropped last yr

Where are people getting this "trade Scuderi" stuff? Hickey/Voynov will not take Scuderi's spot.

IMO Scuderi was the Kings 2nd best defenseman last year. I would trade Mitchel before him. I kinda like Greene.
