ridiculous little buzz around Gustav Nyquist from us swedes. He might be the best SWE forward prospect right now.

For all the people out there wanting to watch some top quality prospects, the Brynäs vs. Frölunda series is gonna be a good one.

Silfverberg (OTT), Järnkrok (DET), Wännström (STL), Larsson (MIN) vs Andersen (CAR), Collberg (2012).

Luleå-AIK
Gustafsson (MIN) vs Fasth (UFA), Rosén (UFA), Gynge (UFA), Nemeth (DAL)

HV-Färjestad

Almqvist (DET), Fasth (NYR) vs Nygren (MTL), Brodin (MIN), Klefbom (EDM), Pettersson-Wentzel (WPG)

Skellefteå-Modo
Lindberg (NYR), Granberg (TOR), Klingberg (DAL), Eriksson (UFA) vs Danielsson (UFA), Tollefesen (UFA), Byström (2012), Forsberg (CBJ)

Has Tollefsen turned Swedish all of a sudden?

Granberg has only gotten better and better as he has begun to make use of his big frame, playing physical and being a pain in the ass for forwards getting in proximity of our goalie. His biggest flaw is that he's slow on the skates.

A bit over expectations I'd say. Great offensivly, a bit worse defensivly but he doesn't shy away from the physical game, (was surprised to see how often he tries to hit.) I guess elitserien suits him better as the opposing forwards most often doesn't put as much pressure on the defencemen here, which enables Klingberg to go on a lot of offensive rushes.

Rasmus Edström (same age, undrafted) has been way better than both Granberg and Klingberg though and as a result both has had to sit on the bench from time to time (alternating between Klingberg-Granberg-Johan Alm), but Edström got injured a couple of games back so now they'll get a lot of ice time in the playoffs.

No, and neither have Andersen, but I included them as they are players of interest in those games.

Also, I think we all like to think of guys like Regin, Nielsen, Kopitar, Bödker, Eller as hockey adopted Swedes since they were developed here to some extent.

are Jarnkrok, Almqvist and Fasth all supposed to be back for the playoffs 1st game? (Jarnkrok maybe came back already looking at eliteprospects.com)

Battled injuries but has been good from what I've seen with Borås, where he is on loan from Skellefteå.

Will play in the SEL-2's relegation playoffs starting pretty soon.

Klas Dahlbeck ,, I noticed going by stats he had a dip this year with regards to his plus/minus but for most part seems same as last year

What is the feelings of him as a prospect? How far away from NHL ready would you say he is?

Is he a guy who Hawks might sign and bring over as soon as next camp and put on Hjalmarsson type path to NHL

Would my belief that he is stay at home , reliable defender who can skate well be accurate? All I have to go with is scouting reports

Yes, but he really likes to engage offensively, getting deep into the offensive zone, either by carrying the puck or pinching agressively.

Think you guys should bring him over to the AHL ASAP, to be honest.

Yeah I'd agree from scanning this thread. Definitely would of thought there would be more hype surrounding Nyquist from the HF swede contingent, but I guess it's because he's played across the pond the last four years. Kid is wicked talented...called up to play for Detroit tomorrow too.

IMO he's definitely up there. Just curious, how would the Swedes rank the current swedish prospects (those already drafted and yet to make an NHL roster on a consistent basis)?

Seeing Nyquist a dozen times, he has blown me away every time. There's no other Swedish forward(not even Tedenby) with his type of skillset. Skillset alone doesn't equal potential but he has the toolbox aswell.

Forwards based on potential:
Nyquist
Zibanejad
Jarnkrok
Silfverberg
W.Karlsson
HM: J.Larsson, Petersson.

Hopefully I didn't forget someone obvious.

Rickard Rakell maybe? He needs to become more effective but he has all the tools to become a solid NHL player.

Smallish, speedy, shifty and unpredictable. Great puck poise, good vision, passes almost equally good with his backhand as forehand. More of a playmaker but is not afraid to shoot the puck himself. Scores more because of his overall skill rather than great shot. Good work ethic. I think it's no secret he plays strikingly alike Datsyuk, but he doesn't have his core strength yet. I wouldn't say Nyquist plays Selke defense though, but he's above average at defense too.

Yeah, missed him. Have seen him too little outside of the WJC to really form an opinion. But he'd belong with the HM's, or be battling for that fifth spot.

Pretty much this. Would put Järnkrok over Zibbe and J Larsson and Rakell over Karlsson.

Joakim Andersson recalled by Detroit also. (Dunno if he's gonna play) What's his chances of being a fulltime red wing next season?
