According to the blog post, Skelleftea junior coach Lind says about 10 NHL clubs has shown some interest in Oscar (doesnt say to what level they've shown interest). But Lind mentions that Detroit, Columbus, St Louis & Pittsburgh are among those clubs.

Ahh, Pittsburgh takes him!

By my count 22 Swedes drafted. 24 if you include H.Samuelsson and J.Ryan.

Lulea's Daniel Gunnarsson? Overager, late bloomer? What can you tell us Wild fans about him?

Big defensive D, plays a simple game. Can skate, can shoot. Could be more physical. Don't know about latebloomer, he's not a flashy player and is a SEL regular now at age 20.

Do you see potential there? Did he progress over the course of the season? Sounds like the plan is to keep him in Lulea next year.

And thanks for your response!

A #4-5 I guess is his potential upside. He has some offense. Can't tell you much about his progression, someone else probably can. He was one of the last cuts from the Swedish WJC-20 team.

I had Lundberg as the fourth best Swedish forward going into the draft. The other 3 went top37. I mean realistically he will put up 30+ points in a men's league next season and play at the WJC in a top6 role. But it's not the end of the world if he gets drafted next year instead, he's gonna stay in Sweden a few more years no matter what. But you start to wonder if scouts see something seriously wrong in his game.

Curious about him too. Timmins says he's the team's sleeper pick this year.

Love the Lindholm pick. Ducks are stocking up on Swedes.

This confused me to. I though the team that would pick him was ending up with a steal of a pick. The kid is a man-beast that's going to push towards 220lbs in the coming years and even if he doesn't end up as a scorer he could be a very useful role player considering his large frame and good work ethic.

Perhaps that is the problem, he already filled out his frame and concern teams that his development is already at an end.

Alot of teams value prospects with large frames and not enough muscle. It hints that, if the player adds 20lbs of muscle, he can be even more effective and skilled in 5 year time.

If you're play is okay, and you are already at 210lbs, it might concern some teams who want you to grow and not just draft you as you are currently.

Suprised over Lundberg too, but I hope he takes this the right way and work even harder next season. If so he'll be drafted next year.

He isn't the fastest skater, that might be a concern. Other than that he got everything, work ethic, physicality, hockey sense and skill. He was trending upward, getting more and more important minutes for Södertälje and developed in the right direction all the time. However he didn' t play any important tournament, wasn´t selected for u-20 wc and was to old for u-18. He was one of the oldest in his draft class.

Hey Swedes, what is the word on the Penguins' 3rd round pick Oskar Sundqvist? Style of play, projection, anything really.

Thanks!

Big center, likes to shoot the puck and go to the net, which is very rare for a Swedish center. Good faceoff man (at least in Sweden, doesn't always translate). If he can fill out his frame, get stronger and even grow an inch or two, Pens hope that he can be a two-way power center.

Regarding Emil Lundberg I guess it was a case where he wasn't really skilled enough to be drafted over any similar Canadian or American "power guys". Scouts know how much easier it is to be a physical presence in the Swe leagues than on the other side of the pond, which could've made him drop, but it's still probably the biggest surprise of day 2 that he dropped out of it completely.

It is interesting that neither Tobias Törnkvist nor Ludvig Nilsson was drafted, the NHL-clubs just doesn't believe in swedish power forward-prospects. Emil Lundberg was the biggest surprise though, can have a upcoming season where he produces loads and is a physical presence in Allsvenskan, if the trend continues from this spring.

Some swedes for the 2013-draft:

Elias Lindholm (Brynäs) C
André Burakovsky (Malmö) W
Alexander Wennberg (Djurgården) C,W
Victor Crus Rydberg (Linköping) C
Jacob de la Rose (Leksand) C,W
Nick Sörensen (QMJHL) W
Gustav Possler (Modo) W
Lukas Wallmark (Skellefteå) C
Tobias Liljendahl (Djurgården) C,W
Adam Winborg (AIK) C
Alexander Henriksson (Färjestad) W
Robin Söderqvist (Frölunda) C
Mikael Johansson (Växjö) C

Then theres the smallish skilled swedish forwards that almost never get drafted: Leon Bristedt (Linköping) Adam Brodecki (Brynäs), Victor Öhman (Modo), Andreas Johnsson (Frölunda)

Linus Arnesson (Djurgården) D
Amil Krupic (Rögle) D
Anton Cederholm (Rögle) D
Robert Hägg (Modo) D
Wilhelm Westlund (Färjestad) D
Kevin Ekman-Larsson (Leksand) D

Then theres some big defensemen I haven't watched that much: David Westlund (Brynäs), Jens Högbom (Luleå), Mattias Göransson (Brynäs), Gustav Backström (Modo)

Marcus Högberg (Linköping) G
William Silfwerfeldt Öhman (Modo) G
Samuel Ward (Luleå) G

Just throwing out some names.

Then there is:
Peter Cehlarik, Slovakia (Luleå) W
Markus Söberg, Norway (Frölunda) W
Matej Paulovic, Slovakia (Färjestad) W

A really interesting crop of draft-eligble nonswedes playing in Superelit.

You never know with stuff like theese, but if the young swedes in NHL do fine and give swedish prospects a good reputation, it could be a great draft 2013.

D-man Arvid Lundberg also should be a name for the upcoming draft 2013. Youngest d-man that was included in the national U20 squad that was selected/named earlier today. Born just a few days from eligibility in draft 2012.
