2013 eligible Gustav Possler played his first ever SEL game last night with Modo, not much ice time at all but still played pretty solid. Today he scored a hat trick for Modo in the J20 SuperElit North, a league which he leads in number of goals scored with 16 goals in 15 games.

16yo Robin Press has his first point in Allsvenskan with a primary assist to Almtuna's 1-0 goal tonight. He plays on the 3rd line with Ducks prospect Andreas Dahlström(scored the goal, his first of the season) and William Wallén.
William Karlsson also continuing his great season with 1+1 tonight for VIK.

Robin Press is eligble for 2013, he is listed as a d-man on elite prospects but plays center. He has produced a insane amóunt of points playing in the second tier of j-20 hockey in Sweden. Any report on how he looks other than that he got relly good size.

And I think he's played wing in these two games with the men's team.
Haven't seen him play, I hope to. Remains to be seen if he'll stick around for a while. But it's always interesting with a big forward who can create offense, a late -94 born no less.
William Karlsson 2+1 tonight. Up to 9 goals and 13 assists, +15 in 23 games this season.
can i get some insight on him - i findd it difficult to follow international prospects. How does his play compare to other prospects of a similar age? Does he project to be a NHLer if so what can be expected of him - does he compare to anyone? any other insight would be much appreciated! thanks.
Game Misconduct for roughing for Patrik Nemeth today with 10min left of the game. Most aspects of the fight was likeable, on Nemeths behalf.
-He took the initiative for the fight (there's no penalty for instigation in Sweden) and caused no boxplay for his team.
-He dominated the fight (although his opponent didnt throw his gloves)
-He took one of the opponents offensive forces, Dick Axelsson, with him off the ice. That took some edge out of the opponents offfense and Nemeths team could defend their lead and win the game.
A right fight to pick.
On a sidenote, Nicklas Danielsson of Modo, the losing team, called Nemeth one of the worst d-men of SEL right after the game, but that comment falls under the category "sour grapes"

He's pretty much the stereotypic Swedish center. Decent size, good speed, defensively responsible, good vision and hockey sense. But he needs get stronger. He's the best junior player in the Swedish tier 2 by a fair margin and compares well to the players in the SEL aswell. So yeah, at this point he's progressing towards being an NHL player down the road and he does have top6 potential. Pretty much a lock to make Team Sweden for the WJC, so there'll be a chance to see him play there.

thanks - i appreciate this insight very much and i look forward to watching him at the WJC. One other question - how does his play/production compare with other Swedish prospects or Swedish NHL players who came through Swedish tier 2?

This current version of the Swedish tier 2 with 14 teams is a only a couple of years old, so there hasn't been a lot of highly touted forwards coming out of it yet, and historically most players are drafted out of the SEL/their junior teams. As far as current NHL players go Patrik Berglund comes to mind and he had two seasons in the old 16 team format with 48p in 35 games(the season after his draft) and 45p in 36 games(second season after his draft). Brilliant numbers but the league was not quite as competitive back then. D-man Oliver Ekman-Larsson put up 27p in 42 games the year after his draft in this current format, but he was a 6th overall pick..
Anyway, Karlsson's 24p in 24 games are real impressive numbers and more than you could ask for. Only a dozen players in the league score at a ppg clip so far.

Thanks Joe, you are the man. Any other input you have throughout the year i would appreciate.

Most people think that players like Johan Larsson or Zibanejad will be the best forwards for Sweden in this years WJC, i think William Karlsson could be right up there with them or even perform better. I think he could surprise many.
Up to 20pts in 23 games nice. He'll get a very strong look at Sens camp next season.
Umm I say he's pretty much a lock for next season, Murray and his brother were basically begging for him to stay for this season and not go back to sweden.
