Jets news:

TSN: Jets fight for playoff lives on the road against Hurricanes. The Jets had played the last 11 or 12 games with the mantra that these were playoff games and they have just run out of gas.

CBC: Time running short for stumbling Jets. It appears the sand had run out of the hourglass on the 2011/12 season as it is an all but a forgone conclusion that the Jets will miss the post season. The likelihood that Washington and Buffalo stumble as badly as the Jets need them to, is next to nill.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets can’t coast to finish. You have to love the candor of Glass. While many fans have switched the conversation from playoffs to high draft pick, the professional athletes that make up the Jets are not going to mail it in for the remaining 5 games, just so this team can have a better draft position. With 7 UFA’s heading into the summer, there remain a number of players who are playing for a contract, whether with the Jets or another team, for next season.

Winnipeg Free Press: The Race. While the Jets gave all that they could, and despite not being mathematically eliminated just yet, it is essentially over for this team. Down by 8 points with just 5 games remaining, the chances Buffalo and Washington lose their remaining games are around the same as the Jets new chances to make the post season, 0.0%.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets Report. Some news about the Jets, Canes and both rosters.

Winnipeg Sun: Suck it up, Jets. Five things the Jets need to do; 1 – win on the road. 2 – win a back-to-back. 3 – leaders lead the way. 4 – Nothing wrong with winning. 5 – Play Mark Flood.

Winnipeg Sun: Glass won’t mail it in. He is a character guy on the ice and in the dressing room. Always has a funny comment or three for the media during scrums. You get the sense that he relishes the opportunity he has playing with the Jets.

Winnipeg Sun: For Jets players, auditions start now. With a number of pending UFA’s and recent pick ups like Clitsome there are still 5 games in which to prove your worth to this team.

Globe and Mail: Antti Miettinen’s incredible journey. He has not traveled from Milan to Minsk like Rochelle Rochelle, but this has been quite the adventure for the veteran Finn who has 1 more year left on his deal.

Affiliate news – St. John’s IceCaps:

NHL.com: Klingberg making solid transition in St. John’s. The high energy Swede is doing exactly what the Jets want of their prospects, making a solid contribution to their AHL club.

Next opponent news – Carolina Hurricanes:

News and Observer: Penalties a minor problem for McBain. That is quite the decrease over 1 season. In other Canes news, Cam Ward will get the start in goal tonight and Nodl, who was out after a hit in the Jets/Canes game on the 18th isn't yet ready to return to the ice.

News and Observer: Running out of time. They broke the backs and hearts of Jets fans on March 18th and despite having spent the majority of the season in the basement of the Southeast, they are just 1 point back of the Jets for 3rd in the division. Unfortunately for Canes fans their team just didn’t have enough time left in the season in which to secure a post season bid with their recent strong play, which was just too little too late.

Kingston Whig-Standard: Captain Kirk looking good in Carolina. Bet the Montreal Canadiens are wishing they would have had a crack at getting Muller on board their sinking ship.

Triangle Business Journal: Canes reach new TV deal with Fox. Good to see the Hurricanes continuing to thrive in Raleigh.

Just a quick question.

Once the season is done, will you still be doing the daily papers stuff?
Or just once a week? or just when news pops up?

interesting news on the new local Fox TV deal for the Canes. I know Fox is really aggressive right now for NHL content in the US. They have a new deal in place beginning in the same season in Dallas that was done recently.

From what I hear the deals are almost double what they use to be and if you combine the new national deal that was done this past year it is definitely trending in the right direction for some of these embattled markets (revenue wise). Not the NFL but some very positive news.

Good question. We will still provide daily news but it might include more playoffs as well as what is happening with the IceCaps as they make a run for the Calder Cup. Of course with the upcoming draft and free agency there will still be plenty of Jets news.

We will still have quite a bit of coverage though as we have an entire season of accumulated data on the Jets that we will be writing articles about.

Anything you guys looking for?

I hope AHL Live comes out with a playoff package. They have regular season packages where you can just buy one team's games, so I hope a playoff package would work like that.

Coach Noel Game Day Press Conference

Coach Noel: Rivalry developing with Carolina. What coach Noel is looking for in last 7 games. Worst team in league in last 10 games. Eric Fehr talk. Temptation to shut down Dustin Byfuglien. What does it say about Buff that he continues to play.

Wish the NHL would come out with something like MLB.tv that service is amazing been using it for 3 years now and for like an extra 10 bucks or something stupid cheap like that I can get MILB.tv which has most minor league games. Some don't have PBP but they pipe the stadium noise in its great for watching your teams prospects, especially in baseball where there's like 50 or so real prospects to keep track of.

Winnipeg Jets Afternoon News

Winnipeg Jets Afternoon News

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets, Canes vow professional efforts. While the motivation to make the post season is all but removed for both teams, neither wants to be eliminated by the other. Throw in guys playing for next year and we could be in for a pretty good hockey game.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets battle elimination, Hurricanes. Crazy that Mason has not started in over a month. He has shows a penchant for playing the Hurricanes, having gone 3-1 this year against Carolina. Will be interesting to see if Bogosian takes any flack over his hit which knocked Andreas Nodl out of the Canes lineup since the March 18th game in Winnipeg.

TSN: Jets begin final road trip. Where has the season gone? It seems like just yesterday we were dealing with the excitement of the Jets first road trip.

Hockey’s Futures: Snipers, grinders emerge as week’s best. The Machacek and Maxwell duo should have quite a bit of confidence when they return to St. John’s to help the IceCaps on their Calder Cup bid.
