The Ice Caps seem to be having a hell of a season. Third overall in the league with two games in hand on OKC and four games in hand on Norfolk.

One thing I do have to give TNSE major credit on is owning their AHL affiliate. Atlanta's prospects always suffered in Chicago, because the Wolves cared more about winning with veterans than nurturing prospects.

Hey all sorry for the late posting. St. Johns @ Bingo will be streamed http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...php?p=45183801 Feel free to drop a line or join me in the chat. A lot of Sens fans will be focused on the Bruins game tonight but we're also interested to see how newly acquired goalie Ben Bishop performs.

St. John's IceCaps 1 Binghamton Senators 5
(FINAL)

Game Summary
http://theahl.com/stats/game-summary...ame_id=1009472

Scoring
1. BNG Hoffman, (14) (Dziurzynski, Gryba), 0:36
1. STJ McArdle, (7) (Machacek, DeSantis), 10:46
2. BNG Hoffman, (15) (Locke, Klinkhammer), 14:40 (PP)
3. BNG Locke, (8) (Conboy, Dziurzynski), 3:38
3. BNG Cannone, (13) , 13:51 (PP)
3. BNG Grant, (7) (Downing, Locke), 19:14

Quote:
St. John's IceCaps @IceCapsAHL
Goal! McArdle takes a feed from Machacek and snaps home his 7th to tie things at 1.

Starting Goaltender
Eddie Pasquale

Notes
IceCaps outshot Binghamton 42-39. They go 0/7 on the PP, 2/4 on the PK and take 8 PIMs.

Binghamton scored on their very first shot on net.

Brian Rogers, pbp guy for the IceCaps radio broadcasts, sure doesn't think much of AHL officiating. Last game he actually said that they were "pissing" him off. Starting on about them again tonight. It's only a matter of time before he really tells us what he thinks.

Another line from Rogers tonight, "there's more turnovers by the IceCaps tonight than at a bakery".

Some of the boys were tweeting photos of a "rookie's dinner" in Montreal last weekend. Wonder if they were all still trying to shake out the cobwebs.

Multiple player moves made by the IceCaps today

IceCaps loan Peter Mannino and Kenndal McArdle to Portland for Brock Trotter

And

IceCaps loan Michael Forney and trade Shawn Weller to Texas for Raymond Sawada

Helps IceCaps for playoff run, that's for sure.

Mannino was 3rd goalie, loaned out in the ECHL, so for grinder McArdle they got a legit first line talent in the AHL in Trotter, a ppg center. Nice return for playoff run. They have loads of grinders.

Forney is ECHLer and Weller sucks, Sawada actually has 16pts in 22gp in AHL this season. Sawada also played for the Moose, so no surprise they went and got him.

This makes IceCaps a much much more dangerous team going into playoffs for sure (Machacek was their leading scorer with ~38pts), so the offense will be welcomed for sure.

Just a note for some, Forney and Mannino are done in the WPG org after this year since they suck, McArdle might get resigned and will be back with the IceCaps next year if he is and both Sawada and Trotter will go back to their teams at end of season (Sawada is UFA with DAL, Trotter RFA with PHO).

Already addressed by AUB.

Scoring for the IceCaps was not the best, so not a bad move.

Don't take things so personally. Weller was a 4th liner last year with the Moose, not very average. Sawada was also on the team last year and much better player and seems to playing even much better this year.

I have only seen a couple IceCaps game this year, so of course I would welcome your opinion. I was only giving my opinion you are welcome to yours, that is why we are on a message board.

Sawada was here with the Moose two years ago when the Moose took in some Dallas players (Fistric and Fortunus were two others, I think Neal played the odd game with the Moose too [checked, he played 5 for the Moose with 4G-1A]), but I agree he's an upgrade over Weller. He also had some NHL time with Dallas last season, until he got smoked in Boston, right in the head.

Trotter is a good offensive player, but he'll never be in the NHL since his defensive zone play is so bad. He's the quintessential floater. He will help in the scoring department though, that's for sure.

I listened to the game last night. Aebisher was fighting the puck the first 40 minutes while the team was dominating Syracuse. Aebisher really blew it in the third. Brian Rogers who tends to see things through rose colored glasses was pretty hard on him.

This is, I think the big weakness of the Caps. Both goalies are very inconsistant.
