I think Pasquale is a huge sleeper. He looks like he's having a great season in STJ. I'm guessing the reason they shipped off Mannino was to get Pasqaule more starts.

Also, what is Adam Lowry's injury? Could it have an effect on his career?

I agree with your take on Gregoire and Melchiori, though it's a little unfair on Gregoire as he has been injured (i'll be disappointed if he's not in my top 10 next year).

I get a little unsure on how to do my own ratings, as in weighing ceiling vs arrival date.

The three biggest "risers" in my mind for us this year have definitely been Telegin Lowry and Yuen.

Maxwell's dropping out for me (i don't really see him ever sticking) and I'm at a toss up on Yuen and Redmond. I see Yuen as having the potential to be a much better player, but i think Redmond's closer to being a lock for a bottom pairing d man.

As for Machecek, I'm not big on him but I'm not even sure why, it may just be he just gets bumped due to what i see as higher ceilings for players. Who knows he could really surprise me (and i hope he does) i just seem to see him as tweener/fourth liner at best.

so for me its highest ceilings:
1. C Mark Scheifele
2. LW Carl Klingberg
3. D Paul Postma
4. RW Ivan Telegin
5. lw Adam Lowry
6. D Arturs Kulda
7. RW Patrice Cormier
8. LW Zach Yuen
9 . RW Spencer Machecek
10. D Zach Redmond

Likelihood of making NHL Next season

1.Patrice Cormier
2.Paul postma
3.Carl Klingberg
4.Arturs Kulda
5.Ivan Telegin
6.Mark Scheifele
7.Spencer Machecek
8.Zach Redmond
9.Adam lowry(no chance)
10. Zach yuen(no chance)

Overall:

1. C Mark Scheifele
2. LW Carl Klingberg
3. D Paul Postma
4. C Patrice Cormier
5. D Arturs Kulda
6. RW Ivan Telegin
7. RW Spencer Machacek
8. LW Adam Lowry
9 A). D Zach Redmond
9 B). D Zach Yuen

I like your approach Grind. There are often debates on what should be the criteria in which to rank the prospects. Should it be ceiling, or level of NHL readiness. Your approach handles this nicely.

Wow - Telegin with a hatty and an assist tonight. Scheif with an assist. 5-1 Barrie leads Owen Sound.

EDIT: scratch that - *4* goals for Telegin, plus an assist. OS just scored in the last minute, so it's 6-2

What the hell is with Telegin?

I always thought of him as a very serviceable prospect, but almost out of nowhere he's found some other gear and is on fire.

If he can put on 10-15lbs, he'll be a monster. I could not IMAGINE (scratch that, I can) having him on the right side, with Kane on the left. Deadly speed that line would have.

Isn't Telegin a left winger though?

You are correct sir. Off-wing? Still think it'd be a ridiculous show of speed on one line, even if it doesn't work positionally.

That it would be.

Although I'd feel much more comfortable with Little centering that line instead of Burmistrov.

An all lefty line would be intriguing though. Especially if two lefty defenseman were out at the same time.

If I were the opposition, I know which side of the ice I'd be throwing the puck up the boards.

He's played both wings according to what I see on the Barrie Colts board.

Hi all, I'm an Ontario Reign season ticket holder and am wondering if anyone has information on this. Chris Carrozzi has disappeared from Ontario and there hasn't been an announcement from the team on it yet.

I noticed during last night's game in Utah that the Reign had a different goalie on the bench wearing #1, which was Carrozzi's number. I thought perhaps Carrozzi got injured somehow and had been placed on IR, but he's not listed anywhere on the roster on the Reign's website now. There is nothing on the ECHL or AHL transactions pages either. I also do not see him on the Jets, IceCaps, or Colorado Eagles rosters. He's also not on the IceCaps Clear Day list.

Anyone know where he's gone off to?

He's been playing on the off wing quite a bit this season. He looks good on either wing right now - he's been fun to watch. Dominant really...

I know it might be a long shot, but if Telegin could somehow grab even a 3rd line wing spot on the Jets next year, that would really help the team out. You would think he would bring more to the table than Fehr and Mittens at least.

Krazy Kanuck, I think you alluded to Telegin possibly being ready for the show earlier. What do you think his chances are? Or should he play at least a year in St. John's?

Funny he exploded for a four goal game just after Hawerchuk came to town and was singing his praises.

Ducky mentioned Telegin (pronounced by Dale as tel A gin) has been one of the most dominant players in the OHL lately and Krazy Kanuck Ducky also mentioned Telegin has the best acceleration he has seen by a junior player and his ability to get to top speed is similar to Yvan Cournoyer. Although that reference may be before your time I can tell you "The Roadrunner" had the best acceleration I have ever seen in a hockey player.

Is Dale overselling or is Telegin ready to step up to the NHL next season?

Edit: woops I see Huffer asked the same question about how ready Telegin is!

I've always been kind of interested in Telegin since I used to be a major lurker on the Rangers board and there's a poster over there with a particular fondness of Russian prospects who raved about him back in his draft year.

It sure seems from all accounts that he's making pretty big steps this year which is awesome. I'd have to think though unless he has a Scheifelesque training camp next year he'll be getting at least some time in the AHL, granted I haven't seen him play. He has good size so if his defensive game is well enough developed he would probably be an asset to the Jets top-9.

For anyone who's seen him how physical does he play? Good at using his size to protect the puck?

Speaking of the Roadrunner, just found this from the Barrie Examiner: Russian 'roadrunner'

Apologies if that article was posted earlier, did a quick check and didn't see it.

Thanks for the position clarification.

Can you also do so in regards to how you view his game speed. We had 2 reports from Gary Lawless where in one he said Dale Hawerchuk said he had never seen that speed before , which I take with a grain of salt. I know he is fast of course , and DH mentioned he reminded him of Yvon Cournoyer , which older hockey fans take very favourably.

He said he reminded him of how he had that sudden burst , to take off and get seperation initially.

Down the road Kane , Wheeler and Telegin would be 3 very fast big wingers , which makes me smile. A lot.

In person, Telegin is one of those guys that make you go "holy ****" when he skates - doesn't seem right that he can accelerate that quickly.

Very exciting for the Jets, for sure.
