In the coaches' eyes, Read has two assists tonight.

Best part of this game is the Devils Dancers. Damn they're sexy. I wish I could marry all of them.

Bryz looked good, Jersey did not have a lot of shots, but they had some quality chances.....Simmonds was good again, and things seem to happen when he is on the ice......Looking forward to the opener now !

Overall, a good preseason. Found a powerplay (with Jagr) and hopefully a find like Read can continue contributing.

Damn I could not see the game. I'm stuck with Vancouver vs Edmonton ****! Or Toronto vs Detroit. I'll watch the Edmonton game just to see just how good RNH is.

Could be worse, could be like when i went to last years last pre season game against Buffalo. I saw Powe centering the first line and was like "ooooooh boy."

You should have kept riding, St Joe would be a nice ride. Not too much traffic and nothing but water all along HWY 98. .

Including Bryz, we only had about 10 players out there that will probably/will definitely be on the starting line up.

Well played game. These next few days should be very interesting. There is a attitude on this team that seemed to be missing last year. Go Flyers and of course Go Phillies!

Timmah's wrap-up...

So what did we learn in this last game?

Well, that goalie Ilya Bryzgalov continues to look better for a second game in a row. He had two very good stops in the opening period and was again sharp throughout the game.

The first save was on Petr Sykora (back to the future with the Devils) from the right circle and the other, a slapper through traffic from Anton Volchenkov, at the right point.

We also learned that Scott Hartnell can score on the power play by accident. So fine tic-tac-toe passing beginning with Mike Testwuide, saw Matt Read laser a slap pass that caromed off Hartnell’s skate from a bad angle for a 1-0 lead on Marty Brodeur.

“Testwuide did a great job coming up on the half wall and he made a great pass to Read. I positioned myself in the slot and Read made a great pass to me,” Hartnell said. “The puck went off my skate and into the net, but there was no kicking motion so it was good.”

What the Flyers needed to learn in this game, however, was who their sixth and seventh defensemen are. It’s a close call between Oskars Bartulis and Matt Walker, but the thing is, Walker’s high cap hit gives Bartulis an edge because this team’s roster is already going to run into cap issues on Wednesday when it gets turned into the NHL.

The other thing the coaching staff and management were looking at was what Harry Zolnierczyk can offer the team versus what Zac Rinaldo brings. The Flyers pretty much know the book on Rinaldo but the chapters are less lengthy on Zolnierczyk.

Both these questions could be answered on Monday – an off day for the Flyers and also a day when a likely roster adjustment, either through a trade or waiver, comes about.
